Agricultural Observations
the two seeds is only twenty-five
cents Then if by an investment
of twenty-five cents per acre a
farmer receives a dividend of two
dollars and fifty cents he is real-
izing a profit of 800 per cent on
his investment Does it pay!
(The above results were obtained
on the farm of Harry Welsh
four miles east of Keota by Ells-
worth Green) The above corn
was cultivated flat and was so
much superior to some other fields
near by that this system of cul-
tivation has secured several eon-
verts in that neighborhood
Messrs Welsh and Green are
believers in diversification of
crops They do not utertain the
one crop idea so pesides their
cotton and corn they have sev-
eral acres of Kaffir corn and cow
peas that will make large amounts
of winter feed
J R Tedford who resides in
the same neighborhood lias an
orchard of less than two acres
off of which this year besides
peaches for family use lie made
a net profit of two hundred and
fourteen dollars
Can you name the number of
farmers in this county who will
make less than that amount on
their cotton! It pays the farm-
er to raise his own fruit and also
some to sell his neighbors
May the day soon come when
the farmers of this county will
produce every thing that is need-
ed on the farm and do away with
the one crop idea

Which Would You Have?
Oklahoma jma accomplished as
much in an educational way in
two years as some of the older
states accomplished in a century
Nearly one-half of all our taxes
go toward the support of schools
and the building of school houses
Is it strange that our taxes are
a little high when we have built
so many fine school houses and
conducted such splendid schools
and would anybody be willing to
take their tax money hack and
give up our schools!
