Italian Premier
Wins Approval
For New Regime
•
ROME I — Premier Adone
Zoli won final parliamentary ap-
proval Saturday for his new one-
party minority government.
He squeezed through a vote of
confidence in the chamber of dep-
uties after 16 tense hours of de-
bate in which it appeared he
might have to resign or become
the first Italian premier since the
war to require Fascist backing to
hold office.
Zoli won 305 otes—282 from his
Christian Democrat party and the
Monarchists. The other 23 came
from the Italian social movement,
the heirs of Benito Mussolini’s
Fascist party. The required ma-
jority was 281.
