WASHINGTON, Nov. 28-(INS)—
Sen. William E. Jenner (B., Ind.),
predicted Sunday that Alger Hiss
will be summoned to testify by the
senate internal security probers
who are investigating ‘Interlock-
ing subversion in our govern-
ment.”
Jenner said he expects the one-
time high state department of-
ficial who was convicted of per-
jury to be called early next yean
when the Democrats take over
control of the subcommittee.
The Indiana Republican, who
now heads the internal security
group, reported in a telephone in-
terview from his home in Bedford,
Ind., he has no plans to call Hiss
during the final month of the pres-
ent session.
However, Jenner commented
that the subcommittee has made
“a thorough study of the in-
terlocking subversion in govern-
ment ... and the name of Alger
Hiss has cropped up time and
time again.”

Profit taking also is an obvious

The amount of stock trading for
tax purposes this yearend has the
brokers perplexed. At first glance,
there wouldn't seem to be many
losses to be established, so steadily
upward has been the main course
of stock market this year. Since
September 1953, for example the in-
dustrials as a group have added
50 per cent to their collective mar-
ket value.
But look at any recent day when
the stock averages made a new
high for the year and you’ll find
that a few individual stocks were
making new lows for the year.
Traders who guessed wrong on
them wouldn’t have a loss to report
for tax purposes.
Must Wait 36 Days
To do this the traders could
make a simple sale and the loss is
a matter of record — for matters

ROME, Nov. 29_(CDN)_A
woman can diet easier than a
man, says the United Nations food
and agriculture organization. A
woman needs only 2,300 calories of
food a day while a man requires
3,200.
"Women" explains FAO, “are
smaller and fatter than men and
they do not radiate heat from their
bodies the way men do."
FAO admits that any woman
who goes to her husband for
warmth on a cold winter night now
has scientific justification for her
action. Just why a man sends out
more beat than a woman has not
been fully determined.
Eating Studied

nutritionist, Dr. A. S. Van Veen,
from continent to continent. His
job was to measure how much
