new surroundings at Sooner school,
SE 15 and Sooner road. Fire de-
stroyed their classrooms last Sat-
urday.
As fate and some hard-working
carpenters would have it, the $60,
000 blaze mesnt only one day’s
extra vacation tacked onto the

School authorities ordered the
carpenters into the gymnasium,
which wss not touched by the fire.
Sunday and in 48 hours it was par-
titioned off into. five rooms—two
for kindergarten pupils and three
for first-graders.
Parents Feel Blew
Second, third, fourth, fifth and
sixth graders ere studying at the
same old stand, so to spesk, be-
cause their classrooms weren't
destroyed.
But results of the blsze are felt
by everyone, including mothers of
the area, who are rising a little
early these mornings and packing
lunches for their offspring.
The school cafeteria was lost to
the blaze and no new facilities

MUSKOGEE, Okla. UR - Two-
year-old Billy McFarland, who was
burned when his house caught fire,
died yesterday.
- His mother, Mrs. Louise MeFar
land, also was burned and hospital
authoritles said she was in critical
condition. Her 14-month-old daugh-
ter, Linda was reported improving.
