Wright conducted a hearing
Tuesday on the petition of A. P.
Tureaud, son of a New Orleans at-
torney, for an injunction to prevent
the university from barring him
"solely on grounds of race and
color"
If Tureaud is admitted, he will
become LSU’s first Negro under-
graduate. Negroes have been ad
mitted to LSU’s graduate schools
because the stale does not provide
Negroes equal graduate school fa-
cilities.
Tureaud's attorneys contended
that Southern University at Baton
Rouge, La., second largest school
for Negroes in the nation, does not
offer the course of study Tureaud
is seeking at LSU. Other testimony
claimed it does.

An Easy Start
n CHICAGO, Sept. ,_Grtne
startedoff easy and then developqd
strengthon the board ot trad.
Wednesday.
Dealings were very slow at the
start. But they picked up ^4
when the market reverted ha tfend.
Once again an advanc to wheat
at Minneapolis seemed to be the
spark which touched ott buying to
Chicago.
Wheat was Mi to I cen higher,
September UM; Corn vaa K1W
higher. September $1.57%, and oats
were unchanged to M higher. Sep-
tember T3%a, Soybeans were M%
cents higher, September $2.60%, an
lard was, 10-25 cents a hundred
pounds higher, September US.M.
Cash wheat prices remain above
the nearby futures eontracts in all
American markets
Oats acted a little better than
the rest of the market, the re-
verse of Tuesday’s patten. Trad-
ers uid it appeared there had
been considerable selling of oats
futures in Chicago against pur-
chases at Winnipeg, leading to
fears of renewed imports of cash
oats before lake navigation eloses.
Some new-crop soybeans have
been arriving" at midwest markets
this week. Trading in this com-
modity is unusually slow. The vi-
sible supply decreased this week,
but still is higher than a year ago—
972,000 bushels compared with 531,.
000.
