CHICAGO, Aug. 12—B--Soy-
beans led a sharp advance Tues-
day at the board of trade in al
futures except wheat
The advance in beans was at.
tributed to a lower
production estimate ai
of export business with Japan.
Monday's government crop esti-
mate was a bullish influence in
feed grains, especially oats, which
were placed considerably under
trade expectations.
Prospects of a bumper wheat
crop here and in Canada prevent-
ed that grain from following the
general rise
Traders said there was no new
export basiness sighted for wheat,
and flour business was slow.
Wheat was trading unchanged to
Mi cent higher, Seotember $2.33;
com H to m higher. September
$1.79%; oats A to % higher. Sep-
tember MM; soybeans 3 to
cents higher, September $3.16, and
lard 10 to 28 cents a hundred
pounds higher, September $11.43.
Monday’s government estimate
of production as of August 1 indi-
cated crops this year will be the
third largest in the nation's his-
tory
The wheat crop was estimated
at 1,298,000,000 bushels, the second
largest of record. This represents
an increase of 49 million bushels
over the July 1 figure. The corn
crop was placed at 3,136,000,000
bushels, a reduction of 229 mil-
lion bushels from a month ago.
Both wheat and corn production
were in line with trade expecta-
tions but the reduction of 87 mil-
'lion bushels since July 1 in oats
production was well below what
the trade had expected.
Traders say the soybean esti-
mate of 264,300,000 bushels, 16 mil-
lion bushels under last year's crop

BILLINGS, Aug. 12—The Billings
school board will offer $112,000 in
bonds at auction Tuesday at $ p m
The bonds were voted in July by
the school district to provide funds

retire in 12 years.
The new building will cost an es-
timated $125,000. Money in addit-

from a building fund, according to
Willie G. Smith, Billings school su-
perintendent.
