Of course, she has dreamed of having a grand
piano some day. Her castles in Spain have al-

is no more fitting time to make her dreams come
true than now, when she is graduating or is to
be married.

will recall in future years the happy occasion
and of course the giver.

If you want to read — don’t mind
about the light.” She stretched her-
self down, clasping her hands under
her head.
< hick Ie looked for a moment into
the soft loveliness of Ila's face—its
eyes rinsed in sinh serene quiet. She
switched out the light.
She sat on the bed, her arms wound
about her knees. Her heart knocked.
Presentiy she heard Ila breathing in,
the deep regularity of sleep.
She stole softly io the balcony. The
breeze touched with cool, uplifting
fingers on her flaming face. She
leaned against the roses, crushing
them. She put out her hands, send-
ing an ardent cry through the still- ,
ness: “Oh—I love you—” . |
She crept back to bed and lay there '

her fa e against the pillow whisper-
ing. “What am I to do?”

the sun dropping a golden ray across
her bed. She opened her eyes slowly, ,

her with a thrill. She saw herself ‘
