UNION BANKERS INSURANCE COMPANY
Designed to meet your Individual and Family Medical Insurance needs this
Comprehensive Healthcare Plan Provides:
and usually attends convention as an
OCFD delegate. Gary. we appreciate
your understanding of the situation
and, indeed, we hope you will wear
your lapel pin with pride. We are
proud of you and your family, a
splendid example of what we find to
be true throughout fire service, that
firefighting does run in families.
Another prime example of a fire-
fighting family continues with our
next Club 100 member. Greg
Roberts, Norman Fire Department
Greg's desire to become a firefighter
began early when as a young child he
tagged along with his dad who sen
ed on the Guthrie Fire Department.
As a volunteer with Guthrie for 5
years, when he moved to the Noble
area, Elmer Roberts put in 9 more
years with the Slaughterville Fire
Department and saw young Greg
become a paid firefighter on the Nor-
man Fire Department. Still en-
thusiastic about fire service, Greg
also is a Fire Service Training Part
time instructor, attends OSFA Con
ventions, Fire Schools, etc., and
serves on OSFA’s Educational Ad-
visory Committee. Greg, we are glad
to have you aboard, and proud to see
your nameplate on the Club 100 pla-
que in the Firefighters Museum
Boy. does it ever! Gary Marrs,
recently appointed District Chief on
the OCFD. was in the office to pay
for a Club 100 membership in
memory of his grandfather, Hayden
W Marrs. Sr., who served with the
OCFD from January 1922 to July
1958. Gary's father, Hayden W
Marrs. Jr., also was a firefighter on
the OCFD with a service record from
April 1947 to July 1976. Somewhere
it became confused and in last
month's issue we announced it was
in memory of Gary's father, who is
still living in Oklahoma City. Well,
we apologized to Gary, who took no
offense but had taken the precaution
of calling his Dad to tell him of the
mistake before he saw his paper, and
now we apologize to all our readers
Many of you know the Marrs family,
and we did not intend to cause con-
cern for family or friends. Over the
years, Gary has rendered many ser-
vices to the Firefighters Museum.
