' The United ' States Civil Ser-
vice Commission has announced
an examination for the County
of Cotton Okla to be held at
Frederick and Walter on Aug
14 1915 to till the position of
motor rural carrier at Devol
Randlett Temple and Walter
and vacancies that may later
occur on motor rural routes from
post offices in the above men
tioned county The salary on
motor routes ranges from $1500
to $1800 per annum The ex-
amination will be open only to
male citizens who are actually
domiciled in the ' territory sup-
plier with mail by a postoffice in
the county and who meet the
other requirements set forth in
Forma 2121 -and 1977 -Form
2121 may be seen posted at any
office in the county for

blanks may be obtained from the

readers of this news paper as
"Ole Mac" resigned his position
as editor of the Progressor after
a stay of about six months He
put lots of life into the paper and
devoted the biggest portion of
his time trying to make our
newspaper second to none in the
county

carrier and at one time connected
with the Progressor will take
charge and will devote most of
his-time trying to " keep this
weekly up to its pist standard

Burkbarnett Parties have Initiated
an Automobile Route Travers-
ing the Meridian Road '
from Wichita falls
to Lawton
Last Wednesday a car left
Wichita Falls : and Liwton
for the ptirpose 'Of :carrying
passengers - and 'hauling x-
press and luggage and as
this is very near the half-way
place they 'intend to meet
here and prepare for the' re-
turn trip
- The cars leave- every day
of the week at:7 o'clock from
each citY and arrive at the
end of the four hours
liter In the afternoon they
departat three O'clock from
each place and reach the ex
tremityof their journey at
seventh the evening!
The owners of the new ser-
vice are using live-passenger
Fords It is the intention to
keep to the established Mer-
idian Road as near as possi-
ble and will go by -way of
Walters when necessary

lett so far from the railroad
the new jitney service will
be a boon especially to
drummers in fact everybody
who wish to make quick con-
nections The service will permit one
to go to either city and back
the same day for a reasonable
sum compared to hiring a
car and trusting to luck get-
ting a crowd for the purpose
of lessening the expense per

1st This will be Bank's fourth
trip there He made a confes-
sion of the theft and below we
give the snbstance of his con-
fession in open court He thinks
Lc can locate the stolen horses
for Mr Gross Sheriff Coleman
returned from Brownwood Tex
with him Wednesday morning
He said in part:
Charley 'Jodie and myself
stole Mr Gross' horses about
threeo'clock in the morning of
April lit' and we theti Went to
the home of Wm Anderson' He
opened the door as- we stepped
up on the porch and we went In
and told him thatwe wanted him
to make us some coffee and he
made it and then went out and
Bill Anderson helped us unhook
the team' we were drhing which
was a horse that belonged to
Charley and 'one that belonged
to Bill and we hitched ei) two of
the horses that We had stolen
from Mr Gross and the Other
one followed and we started out

went on east ILO just missed
Ringling and went on east to
Hugo we stayed one night at
Hugo and then went from Hugo
to Paris Texas where' we trad-
ed the horses we stole from Mr
Gross and got a- horse and mule
and latterswe bathed the horse
and Mule up and drove back to
Charley Locke's camp on Cache
'creek that night went over to
Jim Locke's campjust across the
creek and Ida Looke stuck her
head out and said 'Hello' and I
believe asked me for a cigarette
paper and then Jim came out
and talked with me and I stayed
around there that night and the
next day I went to Bill'shouse
and he told me the officers were
looking forme and I went back
to Charley Locke's and I stayed
around there and on Saturday
following my 'return to this
country I told Jim LOcke that I
believe I had better go to Burk
burnett Texas and Jim Locke
was to get a cut in what we got
out of the horses we stole from
Mr Gross asw6 were using his
hack and six shooter and slicker
and ho hariod mo to Burlzbur-
nett on MOnday following and
gave me$2500 and he took the
mule that I had traded for while
at Paris- Texas I understood
that the difference between $25
and what the' mule was rsally
worth which was about $65 was
