Wewokans to Hold Leases and
Await Development— Swap-
ping Stock For Them
Wewoka Okla August 30
(Special)— An interesting and
unusual purpose is stated ' in the
announcement of the Landown-
ers Oil Company of Wewoka
recently incorporated for $100-
0001 The company does not ex-
pect to drill for oil - unless its
stockholders should so order
after some of its acreage has
been proven It plans to ex-
change stock for leases and aw-ait
development
“This company was not organ-
ized to get money from stockhol-
ders” savs A' F Smith secre-
tary and treasurer ‘‘The incor-
porators have put every dollar
of real money into the treasury
that will be paid for stock There
will not be a single share of stock
sold for cash Stock will be
traded for ten-year paid-up oil
and gas leases
‘‘It would be an impossibility
for this company not to have di-
vidends The big companies bold
thousands' of acres of leases upon
which they pay ‘ thousands of
dollars in rentals each year and
upon which they never contem-
plate drilling unless the course
of development reaches the lease
Years of experience have taught
them that one well lease is worth
the trouble and expense of carry-
ing thousands of acres of unpro-
ductive leases over a period of
years”
