HERE is an extraordinary chance for economi-
cal buyers to take advantage of the most re-
markable saving opportunity ever offered at
this time of year It affords a chance to buy the
newest apparel from the biggest and most complete
stock we have ever shown right now in the heart of
the season when every one needs gpods at cut prices
such as usually prevail only at the very end of the
season when stocks are broken and you don’t need
the goods Conditions are not different with us
than with other firms throughout the country The
low price of cotton and shortage of other crops has
caused a great business depression which is unusual
at this time hence we are overstocked with merch-
andise which we must move before the season is too
far advanced We simply heed money and must
have it quick and we are going to convert a consid-
erable amount of new seasonable merchandise into
Yndhfey during this sale ‘ We know that to do this
PROFITS must be SACRIFICED and we are going
to do it now rather than wait till end of the season

The Oil and Gas Situation
Corwin Hornidy of the hust-
ling realestate firm of Hornidy
ft Hfllhouse who is in complete
touch with the oil situation here
being ' interviewed Wednesday
morning said in regard 'to the
well here that work on it had
stopped and the well been cap
ped and would be khot soon
That an expert from Bartlets
ville had tested the well and
found something over half a
million cubic feet of gas ter day
which amount the company does
not regard of much importance
as a commercial proposition
That the company is undecided
whether to continue operations
here and will not decide till the
well is shot and the result ascer
taiped The well will be shot by
lowering 200 quarts of nitroglyc-
erine in a tube to a point in the
oil sand and discharging it
He said he did not wish to
create the impression that there
is nothing to the well but on the
other hand to prevent the im-
pression that at present there is
any positive assurance that gas
or oil will ever be found here in
paying quantities
News is glad to get this re-
liable information for it is our
desire to be conservative in all
flatters of public interest and to
avoid a "windy” reputation
which injures a paper as much
or more than an individual! 'V'
Nervous Hunters 1
"J W Walden and Jonah Hin-
chee of Haileyville and Cal Ad-
ams and Barlow Merchant from
here went last Monday on the
final hunt in San Bois mountains
First night out a skunk took po-
session of the tent and the brave
hunters had to sleep arouud the
fire hobo-fashion on boards for
fear of disturbing his majesty
Mr Merchant killed a fine
buck and was so excited that the
other hunters got uneasy and
feared he was sick until he pro-
duced the deer J W Walden
Mr Walden also killed a deer
on the hunt and was so excited
he was unable to carry it to camp
The party had all the venison
they could eat and plenty to take
home with them
Crowded Out
County Superintendent O’Mal-
ley favored News this week with
a lengthy article dealing in a
most able and creditable manner
with the question of better edu-
cated teachers and the practica-
bility of their attending such lo-
cal echools as can give the high
school course in full one of the
few in the county that can do so
being the Red Oak school
Owing to Christmas work this
splendid article is crowded out
this week but it is good enough
to keep till a future issue
Delightful Supper
The Daughters gave a fine sup
per Tuesday night to the Juniors
and their families The supper
was served in the telephone of-
fice and there was an abundance
of everything to eat The Jun-
iors are complimenting the
Daughters highly and say they
would not take a coal mine for
them They sure took the near-
est route to their hearts
The Difference Is

It is desired to call speial
attention to our Great Sale
now going on here at Red
Oak and to direct your at-
tention to the difference be-
tween it and the sales in
surrounding towns that are
put on by sales promoters
At such sales hot air and
humbuggry is the principal
ingredient The promoter
gets a commission of 10 per
cent on all sold so the mer-
chant makes the purchaser
pay it on seasonable goods
and things needed every
day the price on which is
raised rather than lowered
What if the sales at sur-
rounding towns quote very
low prices on pins handker-
chiefs and calico? Who
wants much calico at this
time of year or many pins
or handkerchiefs at one
time?
V
Now look at our sale It
is something worth while!
The purchasers get the ben-
efit of the sales promoter’s
10 per cent and you find
heavy reductions in the
prices of seasonable articles
need every day such as lard
bacon Bhoes wire and wa-
gons— -See our circulars
We are offering you these
heavy cuts on needed and
seasonable articles instead
of trying to fool you with
heavy cuts on things not
needed so as to get your
trade and charge full price
for provisions and articles
you need and must have
What is a saving of 5c on
a paper pins compared to $1
saved on a side of bacon?
or 7c saved on a handker-
chief compared to $130
saved on a thirty-pound can
of lard? or what is 30c saved
on a calico dress to $20
saved on a wagon?
Don’t be fooled by these
sales in surronding towns
put on by professionals in
fooling the people Come
to Red Oak and really save
some money
Yours for real bargains
