From the Advocate of March
Cth 1S9G
From Mr Welch the genial
Battle Axe representative who
came up from Arapaho today
and who wa3 near where the
the fight took place we learned
the following facts which tre
people of D County will hear
with exceeding great joy
and thinking it was somebody
coming to their assistance he
stepped out from hisp- hiding
place but it was Miller Shoot
ing began immediately! Whcfi
the shooting began Red Buck
came to the door With his win-
chester in hand Just at this
moment the posse came up from
the opposite direction and ere
Rod Buck could fire a shot a
winchester bullet passed through
his body and he fell dead Mil-
ler rushed into the dugout hav-
ing shot Ventioncr The fight
continued until three of Miller's
fingers were shot from his left
hand and his right arm was
shattered below the elbow lie
Lorimer to be Ousted
On Wednesday morning' ten
miles southeast cf Arapaho in
0 County a fierce battle took
place between George Miller and
“Red Buck" two notorious out-
laws and a posse of citizens led
bo two D County boys Joe Ven-
iioner and Billy Quillin Red
Buck is dead and Joe Ventioner
Washington —William Lorimer
charged with holding his seat in
the U S Senate through the
cooruplion of a legislatuae will
be expeiled by a ma jority of not
less than eight The majority
vote may be as much as fourteen
A careful poll of the senate jus-
tifies this statement
Just so sure as the day comes
when the vote is taken on the
resolution declaring Lorimer not
entitled to his seat that resolu-
tion will be adopted Friends
of Mr Lorimer realize his fight
is hopeless On the best inform-
ation the final I'oll will stand

surrendered and was taKen to
Arapaho and lodged in jail In studying the present tax
Ventioner was also taken to situation in Oidahoma and in
Arapaho where it was found he trying to ascertain why taxes
was shot through the body yet : are high we find two facts that
no vital organ had been touched i are as inexorable as the lam of
Quillin and Ventioner deserve the Medes and Persians 1st—
the unbounded admiration and plf the state administration alone
Is shot through the left hip
Miller has both hands disabled
and is looking out from G Coun-
ty's jail Ventioner and Quillin
located the outlaws Tuesday in
i-dugout on a creek bank and
laid out in a cold misty snowy
night keeping close watch but
no one appeared During the
night a courier was out summon-
ing a posse of citizens Wednes-
day morning Joe Ventioner heard
someone coming down the creek
praise cf everybody for the tire-
less energy with which they
have followed Miller night and
day for over two weeks never
losing track of him until he was
landed safely behind the doors
of a good strong jail Red Buck
will be remembered by the peo-
ple here as the fellow who went
to church the night on which
Mr Shultise’s store was robbed
Such is the fate of men who
openly defy the law They all
meet death sooner o r " later
When determined men such as
the ones who joined in this re-
cent man-hunt decide to rid the
country of out-laws the matter
will not be left long in doubt

is Pesponsible for taxes being
high in the state then taxes
will be just as high in one coun-
ty as another 2nd— If it is
democratic rule that has made
taxes high then taxes wtll be
higher in democratic counties
and municipalities than they are
in republican counties and mun-
icipalities That the first prop-
osition will not apply is seen in
the fact that taxes are almost
twice as high in some counties
and towns as in others That
the second proposition will not
apply is seen in the fact that the
highest tax- rate in the entire
state is in a republican city in a
republican county
