Two killed in two
car highway accident
By BRENDA MOORE
Express News Editor__
A Chickasha woman and her son were killed last night
about 7 p.m. following a head-on collision 300 feet east of
the I-44 overpass on U.S. Highway 277.
A 1989 Pontiac Grand Prix driven by 47-year-old
Donna Hunt was eastbound on U.S. Highway 277 when
she crossed the center median and struck a tractor trailer
rig going west head-on.
Hunt, and her son, 10-year-old Cole A. Hunt, were
pinned in the wreckage for about one and one-half hours
and died at the scene, according to Sgt. Thurman Massie
of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
It was not known why Hunt crossed the line and went
left of center, he said .
Both victims received head and internal injuries and
were not wearing their seatbelts, he added.
The driver of the tractor-trailer rig, 27-year-old Kelvin
Wesley of Jackson, Mississippi, was not injured, accord-
ing to Sgt Massie.
OHP Trooper Dennis Gann worked the scene along
with the OHP Size and Weights Unit including Troopers
Dennis Ratzlaff, Gene Cain, Gary Cummings, and Craig
Medcalf. ____________________________________________

Lamar back in court on
manslaughter charges
By SALLY MICKLE
Express Staff Writer_______________________________________________
In Grady County District Court felony action Monday,
jury was selected and the manslaughter trial of Walter
Elliott Lamar got underway. Lamar is accused of the
April, 1994 deaths of Peggy Sue Brumley and Florence
Mary Thomas.
Lamar is charged with two counts of first-degree
manslaughter and one count of possession of marijuana
after colliding nearly head-on with the two women north
of Chickasha on Highway 81 last April. Lamar is being
tried for the second time because his December trial ended
in a mistrial.
He pled guilty last month in Caddo County to unrelated
charges of unlawful possession of marijuana with intent
to distribute, trafficking, possession without having ap-
propriate tax stamps, unlawful delivery of marijuana,
unlawful delivery of a controlled drug, and engaging in
a continous criminal racketeering enterprise.
Five persons received fines and sentences in misde-
meanor court action.
Jay Dungan of Chickasha, charged with driving under
the influence of drugs, minor in possession of beer, no in-
surance, possession of marijuana, and driving under
suspension, received a one-year deferred sentence and a
$250 fine on the drug count, a one-year suspended sen-
