THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 22, 1900.
J. J. Burkk, Editor and Publisher.
For President in 1904,
THEODORK ROOSEVELT,
John Allen's total vote in tin-
Territory was only 780—just exactly
the same as was received by Mr,
Tucker, the sfK-'alis'i^ candidate.
Missouri gave Bryan a plurality
Of 32,339, and Dockery 29,102. Re-
publicanism is slowly but steadil\
climbing up in ihe old mosabaok
state. Bnan's plurality in 1896 was
58,727 and Stepbenc, for Governor,
had 43,333.
BARNES vs. FLYNN.
Mr. Tom B. Ferguson, editor of
the Watonga Republican, who was
chairman of the Territorial Re-
publican Central Committee during
the campaign just closed, and is
therefore presumably well posted on
matters concerning the campaign,
Regarding the report that Governor
BarncB used all his influence against
Mr. Flynn, Mr. Ferguson in the last
week's issue of his paper says:
''Much has been said pro and con
in this territory about the fight that
Gov. Barnes and his appointees made
on Mr. Flynn. Barnes wanted Flynn
defeated." lie did everything possi-
ble (without showing his hand loo
plainly) to bring it about. His let
lor roasting Mr. Flynn at the open-
ing of the campaign clearly demon-
strated which way the Governor
stood. Later, at Blackwell, he at-
tacked the entire R 'publican party
of Oklahoma in u9peech which show-
ed hi'i to be u mugwump of the
highest degree. A number of the
men who hold positions by virtue of
his appointments were fighting Mr.
Flynn during the entiie campaign.
However, they did not hurt him
much. They did not lose him 100
votes. Most of the so called Barnes
men in Oklahoma, being mu< h bet-
ter Republicans than the Governor
himself, fell in and supported Mr.
Flynn."
