THE GAME AT DRIFTWOO
A ST PATRICK SOCIAL
Tuesday night the Lambert
basket ball boys and girls went
to Driftwood to play the Drift
woodites The girls game was
rather close 15 to 23 la favor ol
Driftwood We ought not- to
h ive'gone but all the expenses
were paid so ‘ we went even tho
the girl’s team was in no condi-
tion at all ' Bernice Cass first
center had been sick for two
weeks prior to the game and had
just entered school Tuesday
after the sick spell and was weak
Miss Cade as sub had never
played in a matched game and
had played very little even as a
sub Hazel Crocker sprained
her ankle the daytof the game
and was iD no shape to play
Besides owing to the recent
rains and to sickness the girls
hadhad but one day's practice
altogether in a month or more
Driftwood was on the inside
and has bad splendid opportun-
ity to practice But everf with
the odds against us the score
would have been different had
our guards fouled as did Drift
wood’s when the forwards got
a straight shot Every time one
oUour forwards had assure allot
the Driftwood guard would foul
forcing a free throw which even
if made counted only one where
as the other shot would have
counted two
Had our guards done the same
Driftwood’s two point shots
would have been cut down and
the game would have been close
to a tie
The boy’s game was a surprise
These boys have not practiced
for three months but they went
along to give Driftwood some
and they ran the score up to 18
while Driftwood made 32 How
they made the goals is a mystery
Barrett was not there his sister
being seriously ill Ilad he been
there the score would have been
at least 25 to 30

caused a great deal of merri-
ment The boys then guessed
for partners with whom they
filled out the blanks of a contest
with something green The boys
progressed two to the right and
tilled out another list of questions
with words containing ’Pat’
The guests who had been num
