As a general thing merchants contract for their fall merchandise in July or August in
September they get them in the store and sorter settle them on their shelves and get ready
for fall trade With us we have a buyer in New' York City (in connection with other retail
firms in Oklahoma) who is on the look out for snaps and every week we rteceive something
from his “Job Lots” that is bought UNDERVALUE and we make the assertion that we can
undersell the catalogue bouses on 60 per cent of the stock we have on hand and the other 40
we can make the prices as cheap as theydo It’s true catalogue houses are law buyers and
distributors But they cannot afford to monkey with the small lot of odds and ends that are
on the market at a price for SPOT CASH They have to buy regular goods and contract
for quantity or they could not catalogue them With us we buy u gthing m our -line from 1
pair of shoes to 100 or one cloak of a kind to dozen if we get it UNDERVALUE For this
month and October’s trade we have bunched together a goodly lot of seasonable goods and
we propose a

There is today a rapidly growing spirit of tolerance
of freedom of thought of regard and consideration for the
rights feelings and opinions of others that to our mind
i3 the most cheereful sign on the horrizon of human hopes
This progress real progress when" men can learn to
give and take life’s battle to live and let live and to ac-
cord to his every neighbor the same rights privileges and
freedom of thought that he demands for himself
' We feel that this broadening spirit is growing rapidly
among all men and that it is the torchlight that is leading
the benighted caravan of humanity into higher and better
places '

Maps are great educators The
study of maps is a great source
of practical knowledge Too lit-
tle is known of our own county
and state by our own citizens and
too little of our home surround-
ings is taught our children
There is something eminently
practical in a school child early
learning what a section township
and range is and how to locate
lands While it is well for a
child to be able to tell the area
of Europe Asia and Africa and
the capital cities of the earth and
the proportionate area of land
and water on the earth’s surface
how much more important to the
pupil to know the state and
county offices their terms of
office their county boundaries
courses and names of streams
relative order of sections town-
ships and ranges oil gas and
coal and other geological condi-
tions and development Senti-
ment appears to be growing in
this direction of practical educa-
tion that means early knowledge
of things that have to do with
the boys’ or girls' welfare in
everyday life and everyday needs
and requirements
