Kansas City Journal
Sometime ago we announc
ed a clubbing combination with
the Kansas City Journal
Prior to this we had receiv-
ed an offer carrying with
the force of a contract as we
understood it to the eflect that
we were take subscriptions
for that paper from Feb 1st
to April 1st and remit to them
Gets in cash for each snbscrip
tiou and give them approxi
mutely lOcts in advertising
We at once accepted the
offer and they sent us a bundle
of sample copies and we put the
Journal in free with the Light
And last month we sent in
a list of 46 subscribers to that
paper and they turned them
down and returned money or-
der claiming that they had
been notified by the post ofi ice
department that their offer
seemed to be a violation of
postal laws but that if I would
- send 15 cents for each sub-
scrition that they would hon-
or the list 1 then sent
them a statement for adver-
tising which they also turned
down as they said for the
same reason This is substan-
tially the situation between
the Light and K C J As we
know of no law whatever that
will prevent any publication
from going into the columns
of an other paper and adver-
tising especialy if it be a cash
consideration and we receivet
no notice whatever of withdraw
al of special offer until
our list was turned down it
smacks to us something of a
”skiu game” For this reason
we wie'i tc state that unless
they furnish their paper upon
the basis first promised we
will not palicnize them at
all If there is anyone of our
subscribers who feels that you
are not getting your money’s
worth out of Berwyn Light
and Oklahoma Faun Journal
if you will call at this office
we will gladly make the matter
satisfactory with you How-
ever you are getting $150
worth of reading matter for on
ly 75 cts We hope however’
that you will feel perfectly
free to call on us in this matter
