We note with some decree of in-
terest that a large majority of the
votes cast against the constitution
was also cast against state wide pro-
hibition From estimates made
from hearing a large number of
votes culled off vve are (confident
that not less than 80 per cent of
the votes cast against the constitu-
tion went also against state wide
prohibition While on the other
hund a large majority of the votes
for its ratification was also for
prohibition This estimate is only
approximately correct
Latest news from Baum indicate
a good democratic majority Out
of the 84 votes polk'd there were
only about 14 lrcpulijienn While
Springer wvil go republican by some
110 majority This is too close to be

Clarence Scaly was arrested near
Baum today by Marshal Cole and
lodged in the cooler awaiting the
arrival of Santa Fe train when he
will he carried to Ardmore and
lodged in the federal jail Scaly
is charged with stealing a horse out
west of Ardmore The horse has
been recovered and is in the A W
Guinea' livery and food stable
There has been a great deal of horse
stealing across the Wa-hita river
and this is two arrests on this charge
within the lust two weeks

of Carter Avo Methodist church at
Ardmore delivered an interesting
prohibition speech on the streets of
Berwyn Saturday afternoon Dr
Gross is a good speaker and one
that will be readily heard even on
the thronging streets J I is honesty
and sincerity appeals to everyone
and tho-e who differ with him in
opinion will readily hear him and
the pros are always highly pleased
with his effects

afternoon for Ardmore where she
goes to enter Hargrove college
Miss Dowser is one of Berwyn’s
most excellent and accomplished

woman either who does not enjoy a

After a three month vacation the
pupils of the Berwyn public school
are back at their desks under the
leadership of L M Thurston prin-
cipal and Mrs Anna Summers as-
sistant All six1 m to be determined
to get an education
The school has had an
attendance of ninety scholars dur-
ing the past two weeks
Instead of giving exercises with
tla rule Mr Thurston has adopted
a new plan by letting all that talk
during study hours march at recess

lets them sleep Don’t see why Mr
