Ramona” Coming Sooif
Theatregoers here are soon to
have an opportunity to judge for
themselves the qualities for the
amazing vogue attaihed ' by W
H Clune's new auperphotodrama
"Ramona” when recently- this
mostpretentious cinema operatic
spectacle was given its' Broad-
way premiere Arrangements
have been made for local presen-
tation at an early date
Departing in a radical manner
from all entertainments of a
character possible to compare
with it is- musically embellished
visualization of Helen Hunt
Jackson’s fapious novel of Cali-
fornia’s early times— known to
bookland as '‘the love story of
the ages”— has blazed the' trail
for future film dramas through-
out the world the novelty of - its
presentation already has inspired
a host of imitators -
Unfolding in superbly acted
scenes— more than 1000 of them-
one of the most enthralling ro-
mances ever told ’’Ramona'’ car-
ries its audiences through the
thrilling events of California be-
fore and after the American con-
quest of Mexico' portraying the
wonderful love of a maiden
whose father was a Scotchman
and whose mother was an Indian
princess for the son of the chief-
tain of the Mission Indians
Carried through the dainty
love scenes as well as ' into the
thrilling raids of the white set-
tiem on the Indian Villages is a
theme of heart-'gripping inten-
sity the spell of which holds un-
broken thcoughout ' the entire
period of the three-hour ' perfor-
mance This is made doubly ef-
fective by a music score of elab
orate composition to - render
which requires a special orchestra-'
