news must be disseminated- and
therefore to give the people the
benefit of the news the press should

COPPEDGE FOR STATE SENATOR
Ad V Coppedge' rwhose name
will appear with that ofGeo W-
Fields Jr for the nomination as
State Senator' oh the Democratic
Ticket for the Senatorial ' District
composed of the Counties of ' Dela-
ware Ottawa and Cherokee is now
and has been the County Attorney
of Delaware County since state-
hood ' He has borne the reputation
of being one of the ablest and' most
consciencioug County Attorneys in
Oklahoma' lie has met and proved
himself the equal in legal and speak-
ing ability of the ablest attorney s of
Oklahoma - f -
He has lived in Grove Oklahoma
for a number of years and his fam-
ily consists of his 'wife and four
children and his personal character
and private life is without a stain
or the bint of a stain a T t v
As County Attorney of Delaware
County he has' at all times' stood tfar
Scoaetay in public affairs and the
records of the County of—Delawsre
disclose the following interesting
facts: — -
By his adviseand under his direct
supervision he saved ‘ the County
nearly ftOO on the contract made
by'the County Commissioners with
the National Abstract Company the
claim of said company' being about
3&00 and having been placed ' in
the haods of an attorney was- com-
promised by Coppedge - for about
$2000
- Under his management the Court
Fund has always been able to keep
ahead of the demands upon it and
the Courts to try criminal cases and
pay witnesses and jurors ’ 1 (
- It appears that practically all the
other officials of this county have at-
times demanded of the County Com-
missioners that they appoint idep
uties for them and that all of them
haye had deputies which' were paid
by the county except Ad V Copp
edge who as County Attorney has
neyer had a deputy but has done
the worn of his office -
He has opposed before the County
Commissioners the appointment of
unnecessary Deputies and insisted
that each officer might get along
with less help if he would stay on
the job and do a man’s work-v
It appears also from the Record
that the county Attorney last year
collected over $2700 for the County
from Delinquent Officials and For-
feited Bonds and turned same into
the County Treasury
It appears also that The Register
of Deeds filed a Claim for book sal-
ary amounting to a little more than
$500 claiming same to be due ' as
part of the Salary for the former
term although the money had been
voluntarily paid over to the County

E B Hunt for Co Attorney
The Honorable E B Hunt candi-
date for County Attorney when asked
to write something nice about himself
remarked to the Editor of this sheet
that he believed self praise was half
scandal and refused to make love to
himself through the columns of the
newspaper However the editor of-
this paper has had the pleasure of lis-
tening to' one or two of Mr Hunt’s
speeches during this campaign and
therefrom has gathered that this gen-
tleman was bom in Arkansas a fact to
which he points with pride Another
fact upon which be discourses and
points with pride is that his father
was a Confederate soldier under Sterl-
ing Price
Mr Hunt has had several years ex-
