The Home Mission Society of
the Methodist oburgja had
asocial session at the home
of Mrs. C. W. Gilliland Monday
afternoon. Only a few were able
to be present bul an interesting
program was rendered and a de-
licious salad course served.
These programs are rendered
each month and are a very pleas-
ant feature.

Club Notes.
Mrs. W. A. Carver was hos
tess Thursday to the local chap
ter of P. E O. The session was
entirely social, and most delight-
ful. An elaborate two course
luncheon was served. Guests of
the club were Mesdames Ccwles
and Benton Smith and Misses
Cowles and Weiburn.
The G D Club met last week
with Mrs. Benton Smith for a
business session. Miss Doiler-
bide was the guest of the club.
The hostess served delicious re-
freshments.
The B and T Club met last
week with M rs. t\W. King. The
session was entirely social, and
refreshments were served. Mrs.
W. L Prock will entertain the
Club next week.
The local chapter of P. E. O.
will meet with Mrs. J. L. Gilli-
land next week.

tecler. and enjoyed some excep-
tionally good music. Those pres-
ent were Mesdames Hodge and

Arnold, DeLamar and Cowles,
and Messrs Hodge, Keys, Chap
pel. and Raymond, Ros?, Frank
and Donald Cox.

Section 9 contains the follow-
ing provision: The assessors of
taxes shall also require each per
son rendering a list of taxable
property to him for taxtion un
der the assessment laws, to sub-
scribe to the following oath
which shall be written or printed
at the bottom of each inventory,
to *it: "I, do sol-
emnly swear (or affirm) that the
above inventory rendered by me
contains a full, true and com
plete list of all taxable property
owned or handled by me in my
own name (or for others, as the
case may be) in this county, sub-
ject to taxation in this county,
and personal property not in this
county, subject to taxation in
this county b.v the laws of this
state, on the tirsfc day of March,
A. D. 19 and that I have an
swered truthfully and Correctly
all questions propounded to me
touching the same, so help me
God.'*
Section 10 provides: The
owner, or agent, who is required
under the laws of this state to
render any property for taxa-
tion, may render the same in the
couhty„where the same is situat-
ed by listing t he same and mak-
ing oath thereto, as required in
title, before any officer author-
ized to administer oaths in this
state, or any officer out of this
slate who is authorized by law to
take acknowledgements for j-e
cord in thU state, and may for-
ward the same to the assessor
of the county by mail or other-
wise: ar\.d tbe assessor shall en
ter the said property on his tax

satisfied with the valuation as
