A colored woman who did
work at the home of a white man
in the west part of town engag-
ed in conversation with the ladv
of the house regarding the amen-
dment The colored woman said
that a man lectured to the color-
ed voters at the colored Baptist
church very recently and made
them believe that if the Grand-
father Clause carried the negro-
es would be treated as in slavery
days and would be made toadre-
ss the white men as "Master”
and that Jhey would be made to
give all the street and would be
treated a great deal worse than
they were during slavery day
"I have my trunk already pac-
ked now” said the colored wom-
an "I know of severrl colored
folks on the east side that will
leave Nowata should the Clause
pass and I am now ready to go
so I won’t be back to do your
washing any more” With this
the colored woman left the house
greatly worried over the outcome
