FIVE TENT SHOWS
' FORM CORPORATION
101 Ranch “Big Top” Included In
Large Transaction
A transaction described as one
of the largest in circus history
was concluded at the 101 ranch
near Ponca City Monday night in
the formation of the American
Circus corporation a combination
of five of the country’s leading
circus organizations
“The shows included in the
deal” Zack Miller of the 101
Ranch Bhows said “are the Hag
enbeck-Wallace the Sells-Floto
the Sparks the John Robinson and
the 101 Ranch shows They were
brought together by Monday
night’s action under a holding
company but it is improbable that
the individual make-up of any of
the shows will be affected”
Officers of the organization
have not been chosen Mr Miller
said and this action probably
will not be taken for several
weeks when a board of directors
and officers of the new corpora-
tion will be selected
Representatives of the different
organizations who attended the
meeting held in the “White
House” the administration build-
' ing of the 101 ranch were not re-

county is within reach of a phy-
sician’s office or one of the coun-
ty health centers where parents
can obtain toxin antitoxin which
absolutely protects the child
against diphtheria within three
months after it is given
“Toxin antitoxin will not make
the child sick In fact the only
reaction is a little red spot on
the arm where the toxin antitoxin
was given” says Doctor Cowgill
“It takes three shots a weik apart
to Immunize against diphtheria
and this will not give complete
imunity for six weeks to three
months after the last injection
so do not delay about having the
toxin antitoxin given to your
child just because there are very
few cases in the county just at
this time
“ ‘Doctor Buck epidemologist
of Detroit Mich states in his
bulletin that on questioning 100
cases of diphtheria in that city
as to why toxin antitoxin had not
been given 51 percent stated that
they had just put it off or neg-
lected to have it done 20 percent
had never heard of it 8 percent
hadn’t believed in it 6 percent thot
it was not necessary to give it to
to pre-school children 4 percent
were afraid it would cause pain
and 3 percent thought it was not
necessary because the child had
never been sick’
“None of these expected their
children to get diphtheria but they
did and the principle reason was
neglect Another reason given
was that they did not think it
necessary to give it to pre-schol
children when in fact this is the
most susceptible age The best
time to have toxin antitoxin given
to your children is between six
months and one year of age
“How many people in Kay
county have neglected to have
to neglect on your part as it can
be prevented This is diphtheria
season and there are still some
cases in Kay county so have toxin
antitoxin given to your children
immediately"
