203 persons attended the Oklahoma
Press association news clinic in Okla-
homa City April 14 In 1956 the at-
tendance was 184 Those present this

lahoma journalism graduate Since leav-
ing OU he has done newspaper work
continuously He has been with the
Journal since 1935 and its co-owner
since 1939

Buy New York Paper
Walter J Pillich an Oklahoma-trained
newsman and Frank E Hollins also
a former Sooner resident have bought
the Lackawanna (N Y) Leader a
weekly Pillich is editor and co-publisher
and Hollins of Lackawanna is bus-
iness manager This is the first time the
paper has been under local management
a story in its columns stated
Pillich who attended the University
of Oklahoma journalism school from
1946 to 1948 was editor of the Lacka-
wanna Press in 1949-50 He was also co-
publisher in 1950 He left there in 1951
and became a reporter on the Buffalo
(N Y) Evening News He entered life
insurance business in 1954 and contin-
ued in that with an office in Lackawan-
na until his purchase of the interest in
the Leader
Hollins attended the University of
Oklahoma but later entered the Univer-
sity of Buffalo college of business ad-
ministration He has been employed as
an accountant

Miss Coffey 1939 University of Okla-
homa journalism graduate was editor
of the Cementer of Halliburton Oil
Well Cementing Co Duncan before
joining the News staff 11 years ago She
was promoted to city editor of the Pon-
ca City News in 1953 She previously
held the post while the city editor was in
military service
The Ponca City News staff gave Miss
Coffey a set of monogrammed luggage
as a farewell gift Clyde E Muchmore
publisher presented it

Territorial newspapers of Stillwater
were exhibited as a feature of a showing
of treasures of the past at the Stillwater
city library April 5-7 An article in the
April 5 Stillwater Gazette recalled that
this town had six newspapers going at
one time when its population was less
than 2000

developer
Swain worked for KWTV television
station in Oklahoma City from January
1954 to April 1954 then joined an air-
force orientation group He received his
discharge in April 1956 and later work-
ed for the National Aircraft show in
Oklahoma City
