Roderick Buys Interest
In Amarillo Newspaper
Dorrance Roderick graduate ot the
University of Oklahoma school of jour-
nalism and former Oklahoma newspa-
perman became one of the owners of
the Amarillo (Tex) News-Globe re-
cently when the Newrs - Globe was
merged with the Lubbock Avalanche-
Journal and the El Paso Herald-Times
of which Roderick was one of the
owners
The three papers are now under the
control of the Lindsay Nunn Publish-
ing companv with Gene Howe and
V:ilbur Hawk former principal stock-
holders of the News-Globe and Lind-
say Nunn and Roderick as chief own-
ers and directors
Charles A Guy another Oklahoma
journalism school alumnus and former
Oklahoma newspaper worker who has
been editor of the Lubbock paper for
about four years will remain in that
capacity
Roderick probably has made more
money in the newspaper field than any
other graduate of the Oklahoma school
of journalism
Willis F Allen Is Editor
Of Payne County flews
Willis F Allen new editor of the
Payne County News Stillwater in the
first issue under his editorship on
June 4 complimented the former own-
ers Arthur S McEwen and W E
Carlson for putting the Stillwater
Publishing company on a substantial
basis
Allen was editor of the Daily Jour-
nal and Weekly Leader at Vinita for
several years His son-in-law L W
Evans former publisher of the Dewey
Globe is new business manager of
the Payne County News George H
Davis senior student at Oklahoma A
and M college will continue as man-
aging editor
McEwen and Carlson have not an-
nounced their plans for the future
The Payne County News will remain
independent in politics but will take
a bold stand for good government in
the community according to the new
editor

association which was to be held at

Roscoe Cate formerly make-up edi-
tor of the Daily Oklahoman Oklaho-
ma City has been appointed city editor
of the Norman Transcript according
to Fred E Tarman editor and man-
ager Cate succeeds W L Lowry Wil-
liam E Green who has just complet-
ed his journalism course at the Univer-
sity of Oklahoma is a new reporter
for the Transcript succeeding Kieran
Morrison who is now editor of the
Watonga Herald
Tom Gordon another University of
Oklahoma journalism student has been
employed by Tarman as advertising
salesman L Roy Sims held this po-
sition until May 1

university students who have held part-
time jobs on the Transcript during the
school year will be full-time mechani-

The best community newspapers that
can be produced were pronrsed to
Mangum and Greer county residents
by the new owners in their first issue

With National Editors
A few reservations are still available
for the Wyoming-Yellowstone trip of
the National Editorial association im-
mediately after the meeting of the as-
sociation in Cheyenne July 20 to 23
according to an announcement received
by Harry B Rutledge field manager
of the Oklahoma Press association
from H C Hotaling executive secre-
tary of the N E A
Only 400 can go on the trip and
at one time the reservations all were
filled but a few vacancies have oc-
curred due to cancellations on account
of illness death and other unavoidable
reasons
Any Oklahoma publishers desiring
to take the trip may receive reserva-
tions from Hotaling His address is
