Rock Creek on the west and south
of Sapulpa went out of its banks
today City officials feared that con-
tinued rainfall might produce dam-
ages comparable to the floods of
last summer

Weatherman John Pfaff said the
24-hour total here amounted to 103
Inches and raised the year's total
precipitation to 4359 inches
Washita Down at Fort Cobb
The Rock Island office here re-
ported the line Intact at every point
in the county that the Fort Cobb
danger point has largely been re-
lieved with the river subsiding in
that area and that rumors reached
here that a section of the line had
washed out near Mangum
-Telegraphic reports also revealed
considerable high water difficulty
was hampering rail travel between
Lawton through Walters and Tem-
ple to Ryan
Attendance in the Anadarko '
schools which dropped low Wed-1
nesday slipped even lower today as
school buses encountered Impassable I
roads In almost every sector 1
“We might as well have dismissed
school today Instead of Friday for
the emptiness of the class rooms’
Supt R L McLean said today
He said that the current rains had
left roads impassable and cut ofl
bus travel in virtually all rural dis-
tricts The northeast school but
route has been abandoned alto-
gether because of road conditions
Cotton to be Snapped
Anadarko gins which experienced
a busy day Tuesday as farmers took
advantage of the brief respite of
sunshine to rush cotton harvesting
came to an Indefinite halt yester-
day Most of the cotton the gins re-
ceived Tuesday was snapped stuff
and one gin manager predicted a
greater per cent of the crop gather-
ed the remainder of the season will
be harvested the same way
He explained that cotton farmers
are resorting to this system because
of fear of unfavorable weather later
In the season and considering tl"
loss In grade suffered to date the
market Justifies snapping Boll wee-
vil activity has also induced the
snapping as well as comparative
labor costs
Return of sunshine he said might
reduce damage to a low minimum
but continued precipitation would
only Increase what has already
started
