38 Students Receive Grants
From Mothers Association
MORE THAN $11000 has been
given to needy students at
the university by the Mothers
association since the inaugara-
tlon of its scholarship fund in
1947 said Miss Dorothy Truex
counselor of women Friday
Thirty-eight scholarships a-
veraging $08 each have been
awarded during the last year
If a student receives a scholar-
ship one semester and maintains
a satisfactory grade average he
automatically received it the
following semester
The officers of the Mothers
association meet with Min Truex
approximately three times yearly
to award the scholarships An
equal number of boys and girls
have received the grants which
are awarded on the basis of
need
Eleven hundred dollars was
raised bv the mothers In 1947-
48 Since then the fund has trip-
led and this year $3000 was giv-
en to students
