Continuing an LT tradition, the
expected 250 guests are asked to
bring canned foods for donation
to Western Neighbors.
“Cleora’s Kitchen,” published
by Tulsa’s new trade publisher
Council Oak Books, will receive
it’s national launch the following
evening in Dallas at an “Eight
Decades’’ dinner at the Tower
Club co-sponsored by Neiman
Marcus.
Leadership Tulsa is a com-
munity leadership development
program designed to train and
develop new leaders and to en-
courage community involvement.
LT was founded in 1973 by the
Metropolitan Tulsa Chamber of
Commerce and the Junior
League. It has since trained and
graduated 11 classes with some
600 graduates. LT is one in a
network of 200 community
leadership development programs
nationwide.

friends of the author; Mrs.

1936, and a coconut torte with
buttersauce that was served at a
farewell dinner for Mr. and Mrs.
Waite Phillips.
The music will evoke the jazz
age when Cleora’s culinary
talents became the toast of
Tulsa. In those days, Cleora’s
brother played in Cab Calloway’s
'band, and when the band was in
town they dined with Cleora.
Favors at the party will be
recipes from “Cleora’s Kitchens.”
The book will also be for sale.

that evening will be LT President

Cleora’s Kitchens... to be unveiled
Leadership Tulsa (LT) will
launch the late Cleora Butler’s
cookbook at its annual Holiday
Party on Tuesday, December 3
from 7 to 9 p.m. The party is set
at the Tulsa Garden Center, 2435
S. Peoria, which in the thirties
was the home of the George W.
Sneddens for whom Mrs. Butler
cooked.
Carter and LT graduate Ceci
Gillespie of Potpourri will use
recipes from the newly released
cookbook, “Cleora’s Kitchens:
Eight Decades of American
Food”, for the party.
The menu includes Baron of
beef rolls and spinach sauce,
Mexican coleslaw, cheese spread
and biscuits, orange nut bread
Mamie Frazier, who worked with
Cleora’s catering service; and
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Pacetti of
Dallas, who arranged the in-
troduction of Cleora’s book in
Dallas by the Tower Club and
memoirs, grandchildren of the t Neiman Marcus.

The Northside Garden and
Beautification Club met in the
home of President Ann Beck,
November 21 with 17 members
present.
Evelyn Willis was in charge of
the devotion.
The club will set out tulip
bulbs at the North Regional
Regional Library. Ollie Henson,
chairperson of civic
beautification, will contact
members to assist her, Elnora
Carroll, assistant chairperson,
and president Beck to help clean
out the beds and get the bulbs in
The 27th annual tea, bazaar
and bake sale, sponsored by the
Magnoliaettes Club, will be held
Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. This
fundraiser helps to finance the
scholarship program of the club.
Currently three young ladies are
recipients of the scholarship
program.
Normally the event is held in
the home of a member, but this
year will be held at the
Federated Club House, 2136 N.
Peoria, due to an expected
overflow crowd.
There will be a large array of
handmade gift items, clothing
crafts, novelties, Christmas
decorations and housewares in
addition to the elegant bake sale
items.

ceremony on Saturday at Vernon
AME Church. Rev. E.W. Dawkins
performed the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. And Mrs. Zollie L. Wright,
Sr. He is the son of Helen
Colbert and Jerry Gibson.
Maid of honor was Carmella
Littlejohn and Edward Colbert
was best man. Bridesmaids were
Tina Hamilton and Sebrena
Colbert. Eddie Hall, Jr. and Otis
Colbert served as ushers.
Ringbearer was Alexis Sayles
and Letesha Colbert was flower
girl.
