NEW YORK, NY - Last Week,
defense attorneys for the Wilmington
10, along with the United Church of
Christ Commission for Racial Justice,
filed petitions with North Carolina
Governor James Hunt, requesting a
pardon for the ten civil rights activists
convicted in 1971.
According to Chief Defense Counsel
James E. Ferguson, "By filing the
petitions for pardon, essentially what
we are doing is adding a new dimension
to the case and putting it squarely in an
arena where the Governor can take
into account all of the factors involved
in this case. Based upon manner of the
convictions, the recantations of the
witnesses, the promises and in-
ducements made for their testimony

case has for race relations in the state,
the implications that it has in-

After three years of negotiations and
planning, Thursday was a red-letter
day for those involved with the North
Tulsa Ambulatory Health Care
System. Acting on plans recently
adopted by the Tulsa City Commission,
contracts were signed to retain ar-
chitects for the design of three new
facilities.
Gathering at the system's office in
the North Regional Library were Tulsa
architect Joe Robinson, his associate
Larry Taylor, North Tulsa System
Coordinator James Todd II, and Dr.
Brrell Covington, Tulsa physician and
"airperson for the system’s planning
group. Following signing of the con-
tract, the document was to be passed
on to Tulsa’s Board of City Com-
missioners for final approval.
The year-long contract calls for
Robinson and Taylor to design two new
ambulatory care clinics, based on a
family practice model, and a central
diagnostic facility to be constructed
adjacent to the present Moton Health
Center. The diagnostic facility will
serve both new centers and Moton as a
comprehensive health care delivery
mechanism
New care facilities are planned for
the northwest comer of 38th Street
North and Cincinnati and a location at
about Queen Street and North
Sheridan. Design of the system is to
serve neighborhoods in all parts of the
North Tulsa community.
The initial step toward construction
of the system came back in 1974 when
former Finance Commissioner William
JI Morris Jr. pushed for allocation of

As plans were being made Thursday
for man-hunts in the area, Mayes
County officials filed first-degree
murder charges against Hart in con-
nection with the June 13 slayings. And,
by mid-afternoon, searches were un-
derway with dogs brought in from the
Mcl>eod Prison Farm
The searches were abandoned at
about 9:55 p.m. as darkness decended.
One team of trackers had reported
finding a "hot trail" at 8:45 p.m. about
two miles south of Sam’s Comer on
Oklahoma 33. There were reports of
two shot gun blasts a bit earlier and two
other blasts were reported at about 9
p.m. There was no indication as to
what had caused the blasts.

Arab leaders created the refugee

grounds for misery and terrorism.
Mr. Skeete stated that "the recent
Arab oil squeeze is nothing to what can
happen in the months ahead" and
warned that "continuance of playing

Bunche, the mediator for the U.N. at

"472,000 Arabs have left Israel in the
past year, while 140,000 Arabs stayed."
Aj is a fact that at the time of the
establishment of the State of Israel,
Israel asked the 472,000 departing
Arabs to remain and become Israeli
citizens. They chose to leave, however,
and they and their descendants con-

this week that they have a suspect in
the case. By early Friday, an army of

Clues in the case have led in-
vestigators to believe the rape-slayings
may have been committed by Gene
Leroy Hart, a convicted rapist who
escaped from the Mayes County Jail in
1973. Authorities have been convinced
for sometime that Hart is still in the

The score in the world of adoption is

Black children who have been waiting
