THERE are preachers and preach-
ers Some are good some are bad
Some are very wise some are ignor-
ant as mules Soma are Christian gen-
tlemen of the highest type some are
rascals of the deepest dye But there
Is one minister whom I should like
to call to the attention of my readers
He is Reverend Milton Smith pastor 0j rre whims of university self-gov-of
the local Nasarene Church Mi j frnmcnt end the political fights In-
Smith is soon leaving our community rojfrf
to take a pastorate in Maklen Massa- VLI 1- -a jj ki !

Mr Smith han been In Xoraun
Jt ten yearn Dnring that time he
han bail! one of the mast active and
helpful churches In onr little city
When hs came here the Kasarcne
rharrh had bo members Today It
haa MO During the pant ten yearn
he han received an average of 60
members a year Into his charch
Over 1000 people have been con-
verted during that time The ef-
fectlvenena of Mr Smith's work is
shown by the fart that approximate-
ly a third of the people who have
arreptrd the Christian religion un-
der his ministration have been def-
initely Urd Into the work of extend-
ing the Kingdom of Cud thrn the
Nasarene church Of course many
others have allied themselves with
other Nasarene rhnrrhes or with
rhurrhen of other denominations
We hear a lot these days about do
numlnational competition but it Is
safe to say that three-fourths of thk
people who have allied themselvm
with the Nasarene church within the
lust ten years would not have been
reached by the other churchea of the
town For the moat part the people
In Mr Smith’s church have been won
to the Christian religion thru his own
efforts and the work of his people
Of course they all had more or less
of a church background and the
strained-out Christian Influence which
Is to be found In our general culture
but so fur as definitely being reach-
ed by the work of the church most
of his people were not and would
not have been except for him
It Is true that a few of these people
were passed middle life and some
of them had reached old age but by
and large were young people Except-
ing for one very small church 1 feel
sure that the Nasarene church has the
youngest membership In town Go to
almost any one of its meetings ami
you will find that people below thirty
