A VEILING, Italy
(AP) — Lucio Antonio
Fabbrocinl, a 78-year-
old Neapolitan banker
kidnapped a week ago
by left-wing extremists,
was released early to-
day, police reported.
Police said Fabbrod-
ni's family paid a ran-
som for his release, but
they would not say how
much.
Fabbrocinl, who
heads a chain of banks
with 18 branches in the
Naples area, was ab-
ducted by a band of
men at nearby Terzig-
no, on the slopes of
Mount Vesuvius.
A caller told Fabbro-
clni's son that the bank-
er had been kidnapped
by the leftist organiza-
tion Armed Proletariat
Groups "in revenge for
the death of Martino
Zlcchltella,'* police
said.
Zicchitella was a left-
ist radical killed earlier
this month in an al-
leged attempt to assas-
sinate a high police of-
ficial. The official was
wounded and another
policeman killed in a
gun battle.
"The bandits treated
me well," Fabbrocinl
said after his release,
according to police. "I
was kept all the time in
a small room and the
only person with whom
I talked during my con-
finement was a masked
man."
Fabbrocinl was the
41st person kidnapped
for ransom in Italy this
year.

ROME (AP) — Archeologists an-
nounced today the discovery of one
of the oldest sanctuaries of ancient
Rome, perhaps dating to the found-
ing of the Eternal City some 27 cen-
turies ago. The sanctuary, or tem-

Ancient Roman sanctuary unearthed
they said, judging by offerings found
in the ruins. The site was discovered
by chance, officials of Rome's anti-
quities superintendency said, after
archeologists came upon clandestine
diggings early this year near the
town of Gabii, about 12 miles south
of Rome.

BEIRUT (AP) — More than 25,000 the Christian National Liberal party,
said about 100 guerrilla* were killed
or wounded in a clash with Chris-
tians at the besieged village of
Kowkabeh. But Palestinian sources
denied that there was any battle.
There was no independent confirma-
tion of the report.
Christian sources said the Pales-
tinians have shipped 62 truckloads of
weapons, the bulk of their heavy
arms, to the southern province of
Arkoub, once a prime staging area
for guerrilla raids across the bor-
der into Israel.
"The Palestinians have shifted
, their sparks to the powder keg of
Phalange militia commander south Lebanon," the Phalange party
Bashir Gemayel threatened to send
his forces south to protect Christian
enclaves in the area, a move that
could rekindle the fighting halted by
an Arab League cease-fire two
months ago. The Phalange militia is
the largest on the Christian side.
