of 15 mills
< bi. e

By Don Brown
Oklahoma Countys
cities, school districts
and county government
will divide about $14.7
million in expected ad
valorem tax revenues
in fiscal year 1975-76,
according to figures
made available today.
The Oklahoma Coun-
ty excise board this
morning set the coun-
ty-wide mill levy at 15
mills.
Based on total esti-
mated county valuation
of $982.7 million, the 15
mills means that $14.7
million will be available
to partially fiftance cit-
ies, schools and county
government.
The excise board also
allocated 91-: mills to
the county, five mills to
schools and the remain-
Y- ing one-half mill to cit-
. i ies.
The valuation figures
earlier this
month by County As-
s e s s o r Don Wilson
could be adjusted
downward. Such an ad-
justment would also
•; lower the amount gen-
erated by the 15 mills
levied by the excise
board.
But based on the cur-
rent $982.7 million, the
county could expect to
receive from ad valo-
rem taxes about $9 mil-
lion. The c o u n t y’s
school districts may ex-
pect to share nearly $5
million and the cities
will divide up the re-
mainder.
The estimated reve-
nue generated from ad
valorem taxes is only a
portion of the revenues
on which city and coun-
ty governments and
schools operate.
The excise board's
action today to allocate
the 15 mills clears the
way for completing
budgets throughout the
county.
During the next few
weeks, the excise board
will meet to look over
and possibly adjust the
' . budgets submitted by
the school districts and
governmental agencies.
County Clerk Cecil
Parham said the coun-
ty's $12.1 million esti-
mate of nepds for fiscal
year 1975-76 would
probably be trimmed
> by about $2 million.
Last fiscal year, total
city, school and the
county government
budgets amounted to
$194.5 million.
