A L SQUIRE FOR
: COUNTY JUDGE
My silence thus far in this
campaign has not been because
I wish to ignore the people 'or
because I failed to appreciate
their support in the past On the
contrary I have' the appreciation
of the good 'will shown to me by
the voters of Ellis County in the
past and I especially appreciate
the nomination ' given to me at
the recent primary because it
came to me without my seeking
it
- I have always desired to hold
the office of Judge I like the
work and when I held the office
I gave my entire time and first
strength" to the duties of the
office But while this is true 1
hesitated about becoming a can-
didate again until I was urged to
run by leading Republicans from
all parts of the county represen-'
ting as I understand it all of
the elements of the party I did
not announce at all and waited
until late in the filing period be-
fore filing my' petition to be
placed 'on the ballott so as not to
stand in theway of any other can
didate that the party might
desire to put forward Had any
other candidate been put forward
I should not have entered the
camgaign but when I saw that
the lawers who were eligible to
fill the office as well as the
rank and file of the party con-
ceded the nominotion to ' me
without opposition I filed my
name with the county election
board and received the nomin-
ation without any effort on my
pari This is my reason for not
announcing or in any way speak-
ing to the voters before this time
I now wish to thank every mem-
ber of the Republican party for
the nomination of County Judge
which they tendered me and I
assure you all that I appreciate
this honor the more highly be-
cause of the way in which it
came
1 do not know how much of a
campaign I will be able to make
but I shall do the best I can in
that line and whether I see you
personally or not I shall appre-
ciate the support of every voter
at the common election and if el-
ected I will give my entire time
and best strength to the duties
of th office aud will serve the
people to the best of ray ability
Again thanking the Republican
party for the nomination assur-
ing every voter that I shall ap-(
predate his support at the gen-
eral election
I am Very Respectfully
