A strange malady has broken
out among the horses and mules
in the eastern part of Oklahoma
and these animals are dying at
an alarming rate Several
horses have died in and around
Fort Towson during the past two
weeks W S McKinney lost a
valuable horse last week§ from
this dread disease and Ed Leon-
ard lost one this week from the
same malady No cause has yet
been discovered for the disease
and no cure has been found

specifications for the new build-
ing aie in part that it shall be

centrally located as possible and
within 80 rods of the depot A
lease of five or ten years will be
taken by the government on
such a building from the time it
is completed and ready for the
postoffice to occupy For full
particulars read the notice for
bids in the post office
Fort Towson is the center of a
large and profitable trade terri-
tory and as this 'territory de-
velops and increaaes in popula-
tion the commercial benefits will
accrue to our city' The entire
country surrounding Fort Tow-
son is bound to become one vast
panorama of improved farms in
a few years as we have the soil
the climate the timber the
water and other inducements to
offer to home seekers and those
looking for new 'fields of enter-
prise The agricultural possi-
bilities now lying dormant will
become realities Let us all
boost and have faith in the fu-
ture of our town V-

Fort Towson Public Schools next
week The faculty and the pu-
pils will take a lay-off for the
holidays
That Dallas lady who- deposit-
