The big rain put an end to wheat
cHreshing for several days It is to be
expected that the railroads will get the
dde tracks cleared of loaded wheat an
lay cars Wheat buying had almost
ome to a standstill on account of the
levators being nearly all full and no
an coming in to be loaded
The land is thoroughly soaked now
tnd th farmers that have their wheat
'n reshed can now start their plow pre
wring for the 1920 wheat crop The
fuly plowed land is estimated by exe
wrienced wheat raisers to produce ten
Mshels more to the acre than land
flowed in September
MILITARY HONORS
As announced in last week’s Leader
the body of Buel Mogan arrived here
last Saturday evening on the south
bound Orient It was taken to Mrs
M E Mogan’s home on South Third
street where it remained until the
next day when with an escort of
nine ex-navy boys the body was ta-
ken to the ftieth odist church A
short funerela serviee was conduct-
ed by Rev E C" Webb From
the church the body was taken to the
Sentinel cemetery where burial was
made with the usual military honors
Both at the chureh and at the ceme-
tery a very large crowd was in at
tendance showing the high esteem in
which Buel was held by his old friends
Buel was considered one of the finest
young men that left Sentinel for the
war his death after the war had end
ed and the other boys were all re
turning was a sad blow to his moth-
er sister and brothers also to his
friends But it i appointed that man
has but one time to die and to us all
the time will come sooner or later
A PLEASANT SURPRISE
Wcdncmlay evening some inendim
of the Methodist church tendered
their pastor Rev E C Webb and
Ills wife a great surprise Alsiut
10 o'cloek the ladies of the Home Mis-
sionary Society a numlior of the men
of the churyh and a few friends met
at the parsonage and in a body de-
manded entrance The surprised host
and hostess gladly made the best of
the occasion and contributed their ev-
ery effort toward muking the even-
ing a success
Ah each guest entered the mime
of some celebrity though their filds
of fume differ as much us that of
Charlie Chaplin' Billy Sunday Mug-’
gle and Jiggs Santa Claus llcnry
Ford or Eugene Debbs was pinned
on his back as soon as each discover-
ed his identity through conversation
with tho other “celebrities” he gave
a one minute speech typical of his
career Games as Poor Pussy and
Cross Questions and Crooked Answers
made the affair thoroughly informal
The Honeymoon Tour in which the
bride attired in costume entirely ante-
bellum and the groom in clothes of
doubtful season ran a race in donning
the parts of their respective ward-
robes and replacing the same in anti-
quated suit cases furnished much
merriment
The most important featurg of the
entertainment was one which attested
the popularity of Brother and Sister
Webb with their congregation and the
appreciation of their untiring efforts
enthusiasm and leadership in church
work by the members J N Riley
superintendent of tho Sunday school
was spokesman of the men of the
church in giving to Brother Webb a
watch fob with Masonic emblem
With a few fitting remarks Mrs
R L Jackson president of the Wo-
man’s Home Misionary Society pre-
sented the gift of the organization a
comeo lavalier to Sister Webb
At a late hour refreshments of de-
licious ice ceam and cake which
the guests had provided were served
