SUPREME COURT KNOCKS HER
ASPIRATIONS IN THE HEAD
FOR THE PRE8ENT
GUTHRIE CELEBRAIESDECISION
Fight la Ra-opened on Larger Scale
Than Ever — Guthrie Celebrates the
Decition and 8tate Butineaa la Re-
sumed There— Governor Stays Away
Guthrie Okla — Guthrie la tonight
telebratlng the decision of the state
supreme court returned today holding
that the state capital location law re-
cently voted on and locating the capi-
tal at Oklahoma Cily Is void A cap-
ital fight la now on in earnest and the
following cities will contest for the
honor: Muskogee Tulsa McAlester
Ardmore Chlckasha Shawnee Enid
El Reno Lawton Guthrie and Oklaho-
ma City
The supreme court today by Ita de-
cision has had the effect of causing
the Immediate resumptlop of all state
business at Guthrie the few depart-
ments which moved to Oklahoma City
having moved back Each depart-
ment head who waa ordered to move
to Oklahoma City by Governor Has-
kell today sent out all calls dated
Gnthrie The criminal court of ap-
peals which has been holding back
opinions pending the capital decision
will hand down 80 opinions within a
few days There la much speculation
as to whether Governor Haskell will
came back to Guthrie It is believed
here that he will not aa most of his
duties are zuch aa are not required to
he performed at the capital of the
state It Is generally believed that
the governor will bring every possible
Influenco to bear to secure the adop-
tion of a law removing the capital to
Oklahoma City
Oklahoma City lost In the state cap
Ital fight today when the supreme
court decided that the seat of the
state government must remain In
Guthrie
The court held that the election on
the amendment to remove the capital
to Oklahoma City was void because of
defects In the title of the ballot
The court decided that the provision
of the enabling act locating the capi-
tal at Guthrie until 1913 has only the
force of a law that can be repealed
by the votes of the people of the state
The decision upset the plans of the
Hticte capital commission now engaged
in laying out a state capitol site at
Oklahoma City
The law regulating the submission
of Initiated questions requires that an
essential question in the ballot title
shall be "Shall it be adopted?” mean-
ing the entire measure This question
was omitted from the ballot title In
the capital removal election

Ok'ahoma City Okla — Following a
decision of the state supremem court
at Guthrie today that the capital elec-
tlon held June 11 is not valid Gover-
nor Huskell has practically declared
that the legislature has power to
choose the capital city and it Is be-
lieved he will call a special session
within the next two weeks
In a statement this afternoon Gov-
ernor Haskell said:
“I will see that the wishes of the
people of Oklahoma are observed It
Is my opinion that this decision puts
the entire power of the capital loca-
tion in the hands of the legislature”
After a conference between the gov
ernor and several attorneys one of the
latter said:

Looking After the Egg
Lady Betty who la four years old
and neved misses a trick was taken
the other evening to a restaurant tor
her supper and with all the Importance
and sprightly dignity of her years
calmly ordered poached egg on toast
While the little family group waa
awaiting Its service the "kiddle”
amused herself by looking out of th
window pressing against a screen to
get a closer view of something below
She was warned by her mother that
the screen might give way and let her
fall to the sidewalk perhaps injuring
her terribly She drew away thought
a minute and then said naively:
“Would I fall if the scroen went out?"
"You certainly would" waa her moth-
er's reply "And would I get awful
burted?” "Very likely” “Then what
would the man do with the eggs?"

time to time you will hear of dogs
that have returned to the life of tbelr
ancestors and have run wild with the
wolves of the prairie or of the woods
In tha town of Sandy In Oregon a
greyhound one night made th ac-
quaintance of n coyote which la a
kind of wolf and ever since ha ha
lived away from the town running
with the coyotes and approaching hu-
man dwelling-place only to steal a
hen or two when he baa been more
than usually hungry
