'The work of the normal con-
tinues to move on nicely the in-
structors and teachers being
'well pleased and happy in thei:
work The enrollment has In-
' creased until we have 02 in nt

Mr G C Nichols who taught
the past year at Sadie has been
elected principal of the school
at Gans for another year Mr
Nichols is a man of considerJ
able experience and a man in
whom the people can place im-
plicit confidence With such
man at the head of- the school
together with the assistants
that they have employed we
'shall expect great thin3s from
them -
Mr John Davis who has just
closed a very successful year's
work at Roland has been re-
elected thus indicatory that
the people of that little town
wre wide awake and progressive
or they would never have re-
elected Mr Davis as principal
for another term
- The people of Muldrow are to
be congratulated upon secur-
ing the services of Mr Alma°
Miller asund of their teschersl
next year Supt Campbell and
the Board know a good teacher
when they see one

Mr Owen Phillips has been
reelected at Loup thus show-
ing that he and the people are
well pleased with the past
year's work Phillips in a
strolig teacher in any way you
may take him Ile is a close
student of Pedagogy and Psy
chology and endeavors to put
his psychological knowledge to
practical use but when all ped-
ogogical rules and suggestions
fail to win the desired results
we are told that he calls to his
aid the principles which were
highly esteemed and often re-
sorted to by the early Christian
fathers welch are often coin-
mendable and never to be de-
spised nor wholly abandoned or
disregarded by the successful
teacher -

We have with us several
young ladies who have just re-
cently finished the high school
course at Fort Smith and desire
to teach in our county next
year If they make as good
teachers as they do students
their success in the school room
is assured No man nor woman
can hope to ever achieve any
degree of success however or
reach any place of eminence
who is not willing to pay the
price in the way of pre sistent
conscientious work and these
young ladies seem to posess
these very essential qualities
Mr Davis who was principal
of the school at Draggs last
year is attending the normal
and expects to join our teach

lag force nest season We
give such men as Mr Davis a
cordial welcome
Tale news gone abroad
that Sequoyah County undo
the leadership of Prof Mershon
Is doing great things in an ' ed-
ucational way sod have many
excellent communities both in
the country and towns that are
willing to pay their' teachers
salaries that are commensurate
with the character of work that
is demanded so our School
Boards will have an opportu-
nity to select competent and
worthy teachers for their (lbs
tricts and it behooves these
men in whom this power has
been vested to see that their
people are supplied with the
best teachers that can be se-
cured -

A Oliver has been re-e1eztd
at Maple at an increase in
salary Oliver has had several
years experience in school
work and is a hard student and
the Maple people displayed ex
cellent judgement in retaining
him for another year -
We say that the office man
is worth more the second year
than be is the first simply for
the reason thit he understands
the business better and knows
more about managing the afillirs
of the office Will not the same
reasoning hold good in discuss-
ing the reelection of teachers?
Are they not more able to do
better work each succeeding
year do they not know each
individual student better and
have a clearer idea as to how
to manage and instruct him?
Surely this is good logic
