THE KDLTURED SENATOR
Gors may jar loose the memory of man from war incidents
and elucidate entertainingly on the injustice of the Mann Act and
stand pat on a platform to restore chilli to the pre-war price of
one dime but "birds of a feather flock together" The two oily
slick hysteria-proof gentlemen escorting him about the country
looked more the friends of the manicurist and select haberdasher
than callous-handed sons of toil There were no cockleburrs in
their "manes and tails” and if you cpre to inspect closely you will
find that Attorney John A Goodall has them pretty well combed
out John Leeper may carry a few until August 3rd He will then
learn that the farmers are clean in mind and body There were
no cockleburrs in the rich upholstering of the big $260000 Buick
the costliest car in the county which brought Senator Gore from
Westville to Stilwell John Johnson will please note this
A word to our enemies who so greatly enjoyed the moment
when the Senator stultified his high office by stooping to gutter
vernacular in maligning the Standard-Sentinel In the first year
of statehood wewere so unfortunate in the loyal support of democ-
racy as to excite the ire of a nice and estimable old lady of our
town and this estimable and good lady is yet among us honored
and revered We respect her highly and sincerely but at that
time she spoke her own sentiments in regard to usright or wrong
as you may judge She said "John Patton was the pukiest puke
that ever puked” Gore compared us to a buzzard with feathered
f
legs and vile vomit poisonous snake a gorrilla and orangoutang
and asked that no one believe a word the Standard-Sentinel utter-
ed No soulless soap box spellbinder could have been more scur-
rillous or with greater gusto spit his slime We plead that you
believe us one more time— in that we indulge the hope that the
dear old lady above refered to heard Senator Gore For if she
did we know she has changed her mind in regard to us
The militant democracy of Oklahoma is on the inarch!
