Venezuelan ambasaador to the United
States has resigned.
Since the government which ap-
pointed him was overthrown this
week. Ambassador Gonzalo Carnevali
said Friday night, the resignation of
Ite representative in Washington was
necessary “to avoid wrong interpreta-
tions on the dignity of his position
here.”
However. Carnevali said, as long as
the United States still recognizes the
old regime In Venezuela, no new envoy
can be chosen. Therefore. “I will re-
main as ambassador.” he said, "until
