president of the National Editorial as-
sociation lias won a number of honors
with the publication of his newspaper
the Geneva Signal in addition to the
recognition he received when he was
chosen head of the national editors
In 1924 the Geneva Signal won first
place in the National Editorial associa-
tion contest for the best editorial page
I he Signal had previously won first
place as the best weekly paper pub-
lished in the state of Nebraska These
honors are significant in vciw of the
fact that the editor is blind and has
accomplished all of these things under
that handicap
A new honor for Edgecombe is be-
ing planned by the Nebraska Press as-
sociation according to an announce-
ment made by Ole Buck Harvard
Neb secretary of the Nebraska editors’
organization That the editors from all
parts of the United States will be glad
to come to Omaha and spend a day
with Mr Edgecombe and the Nebras-
kans is the belief of Mr Buck
He proposes that Omaha be made
the meeting place for delegates from
various parts of the United States who
expect to attend the annual conven-
tion of the National Editorial associa-
tion in California At least sixty
Nebraska editors expect to make the
trip They will gather at Omaha to
board the train for the West

Vinita Daily Star to
Erect Modern Building
The Vinita Daily Star plans to build
soon a new home for its offices and
equipment valued at $50000 according
to a recent announcement of A H
Bertram editor of the Star

located at Vinita and established the
Daily Star as a free publication to be
distributed to city readers tree of cost
Today the same two-page daily still
exists under the same ownership as
when it was founded It has forged
ahead in spite of the enormous doubt
which Vinita’s citizens held
Bertram had worked on many of the
big dailies of the larger cities before he
established a paper of his own His
knowledge of handling news and get-
ting the advertisements for his publica-
tion are the attributes which have made
for his success he states

PLANS SPECIAL EDITION
The Pauls Valley Enterprise of
which W M Erwn is publisher is
considering plans for the publication
of an anniversary edition about January
15 Erw'n invited students of the Uni-
versity of Oklahoma school of journal-
ism to go to Pauls Valley at that time
to take part in putting out the edi-
t’on Became of the fact that the stu-
dents are putting out the Oklahoma
News n that date it was necessary for
the journalism faculty to decline Edi-
tor Erwin’s invitation altho they
greatly appreciated the honor which
implied faith in the student's work
