a lot of fun in monotonous work—
and it certainly ia that."
Leading the attack was Mrs. K. A.

nothing edifying in cleaning grates
and baths, but perhaps he can."
Sir Thomas had one sturdy sup-

used to him after 30 years of mar-

Briton Dodging Women After
Saying Housework Isn’t Tough
LONDON, Jan. 15—(A*)—Sir
Thomas Bennett. 59, an architect,
declared quite firmly Friday night
that housework is not so tough and
that most women love it. really.
Saturday he's ducking verbal rolling
pins.
Hard-working males who helped
around the house during the war
found “washing up not nearly so
formidable a task as we were told,"
Sir Thomas told a women’s meeting.
“It’s all wrong to portray house-
work as objectionable,”
Sir Thomas, falling back
experience as Britain's
controller of temporary
“I’m convinced the great majority
of women like it. She’s her own
master and free to come and go
when she likes."
The Daily Graphic, in the beat
editorial manner, snorted: “Absurd.”
and sent a reporter posthaste to
find Ait what the "woman in the
kitchen" thought of it all. He re-
turned with a surprising vote of 14
to 8 for Sir Thomas, but even the
“fors” sounded a little forced.
The congregation of the Church of
the Brethren. 1733 NW 33. will meet in
the Log Cabin theater until their
church, which burned last Saturday, I
can be restored, Rev. Harley Stump
pastor, announced Saturday.
The two-story brick structure, com-
pleted in 1943, caught fire January 9.'
The upstairs was demolished and loss
waa estimated at about 32S.OOO.
Adults of the church will meet in the
theater for Sunday school at 10:45
a. m. The sermon will follow at 11
a. m.
Mr. Stump has selected for his ser- .
mon subject, "Behold. Our Purpose to
Build an House Unto the Name of the
Lord." Mr. Stump said he found his
Bible open at that verse after he en-
tered the burned building.
The children’s department will meet -
in the parsonage, 1731 NW 33, at
