Frye Bill Passes
The House
From the Daily Oklahoman
Senate Bill No 167 for the pro-
tection of the1 estates of Indian
minors passed the house of repre-
sentatives by a vote of 59 to 5
Friday morning
The bill undoubtedly will go to
a joint conference as soon as it is
returned to the senate as revolu-
tionary revisions were made by
the house The bill one of the
most hotly contested in the ex-
traordinary session defines the
qualifications of guardians fixes
their compensation and provides
a schedule of attorney fees to be
allowed out of estate investments
The bill would prevent the ap-
propriation of enormous fees as
remuneration for handling the
large estates of competent wards
of the government E M Frye
chief of the cherokee nation and
author of the bill was active on
the floor of the house in securing
the necessary majority to enact it
The Frye measure is the out
come of the report of the Indian
rights association of Philadelphia
which alleged Indians were being
openly and ruthlessly robbed in
the eastern sections of the state
The report was printed in the

For Supreme Court
We are not interested often in
the matter of selecting our State
Officers because as a rule we
are not acquainted with them
personally but this time the peo-
ple of Adair County are interes-
ted in Judge Jarman who1 is one
of our home boys and ( who has
demonstrated by his work as Dis-
trict Judge a"ndis a member of
the Supreme Court Commission
that he is eminently qualified for
the position of Justice of the Su-
preme Court We are glad to see
the sentiment o ver the District in
his favor He is a splendid law-
yer and a safe and sound judge
Adair County woud like to see
Judge Jarman get in the race and
we would like to have the pleasure
and opportunity of helping to
swell his majority in the primary
and general elections
Base Ball Club
The many baseball fansn this
locality will be pleased to learn
that Stilwell is to have a-real
base ball club this year The
boys are beginning to make prep-
arations for the coming season
Already several good players have
been spotted and have signed up
to play with the Stilwell club the
coming season According to
advice from those who are in ac-
tive charge of the arrangements
we learn tha$ George Bearpaw
will again be seen in the box put-
ting them over the home plate
Also another good pitcher has
been lined up and will carry equal
honors with Bearpaw He is no
stranger to the many fans and
when the name Wright is heard
then and there you may know
that Carl is the one in the box
Another new feature that will be
very noticeable this season will be
the new suits the boys will “doll”
in and with new ball Buits good
players we should be stronger
this season than ever before

Felix Duncan for Assessor
Friends of Felix Duncan are at
this time interested in the possi-
bility of obtaining his coosent to
make the race for County Assess-
or Felix however is considering
the fact but according to his
friends no definite conclusion has
been arrived at this time There
is no question as to his qualifica-
tions for he is the type of a man
that would be suited for such a po-
sition and office He is a native
of Adair County and is known to
practically every person in the
county ' For the past six years
Felix has been instructor and
teacher in approximately 35 of
schools in Adair County and
making for himself a record that
cannot be excelled
As for his character his past
records are as an open book and
stand for his recommendations
He served in the Coast Artillery
during the great war and did his
bit for humanity and should any
one be entitled to a preference it
should be a young man that
stands on a past record such as
r
the one on which Felix has stood
Should he decide to make the race1

Vhat Vfe Should Do Regarding Cotton in 1924
1 As far as possible every farm in 1924 should
produce the family food by making a garden and
keeping cows sows and hens to produce milk meat
and eggs sufficient for home needs every day in the
year
2 Every faim should grow in 1924 all of the grain
and forage necessary to feed livestock
3 Every farm should grow more 'than one crop
of livestock product to sell for cash as a measure of
safety in case of disaster to the chief cash crop result-
ing from either crop failure or overproduction and low
price
Safety and security are prime" essentials It is
better to be safe than sorry Let us in Adair County
follow a safe plan which means our food and our feed
and some cotton to sell and also some poultry -and
eggs cream a few hogs and other things to sell be-
sides cotton ‘
