REPUBLICANS HOLD
COUNTY MEETING
A Great Meeting Held at City
Hall Saturday -Pres Taft

tional Committeeman
v
f s The Republican County Central Com
-f -mittee met at the city hall Coalgate
I $ 1 o’clock p m Saturday August
I 17 in accordance with the call of the
' 'acting chairman'
J E T Clark called the meeting to
I v-'order and in a few brief word4 stated
1 j tha object Of the meeting
J Fifteen precincts were represented
C 'and the election of officers "was -pro-f
ceeded with ’
r Judge G T Ralls of Coalgate was
‘nominated for chairman 'of -the county
committee He-' nominated P H
Boddy of Centrahoma Boddy' was
elected
P H Boddy then took the chair and
'in a few chosen words thanked the
''committeemen present for the honor
‘conferred upon him and -promising to
: ‘use his best endeavors for the advance-
' ment of the cause of Republicanism
throughout the county and the up-
'building of the -good old party Mr
Boddy is the popular blacksmith ot
Centrahoma and has been active in the
interest of “the party in the county for
the past several years
The election of the following ‘officers
Vas then proceeded with:
Judge Geo T Ralls of Coalgate
was chosen vice-chairman by a unani-
mous vote
W M Hooper of Tupelo was select-
ed as secretary-treasurer and J E T
Clark of Coalgate assistant and cor-
responding secretary in like manner
E Q Clover was chosen sargeant-at-arms
by a unanimous vote
After the election of officers and the
'transaction of committee business the
'meeting in persuance of the call be-
came a mass meeting of Republicans of
the county
j The following- committee was ap-
' -pointed by the chair on resolutions: - J
E T Clark Tlieo von Keller E Q-
Clover A L McCarter and W E
Rathbun
Short talks were made by Judge
Ralls Chairman Boddy Prof Homer
Miller E Newton W M
others
The committee on resolutions return-
ed and announced ready to report by a
'unanimous agreement
for party officers with the election
board the Republican party was at the
head of the list' not of one of the par-
ties but of all of them combined He
stated further that the -prospects of
Republican party at the polls in this
county were brigther by far than they
have ever been before and urged that
all Republicans become active in the
interest of the party which means as
he sees it the interest of all the people
He further stated that a ' more har-
monious meeting of Republicans was
never held in this county and while it
might appear from past experience
that we were whipped from "the jump
by our old enemy the Democratic
party that there was more evidence
every day to the effect that the Repub-
lican party of Coal county was stronger
than it ever has been before and that
the party’s strength was growing by
leaps and bounds and going forward to
victory Getting the boys out to vote
on November 6 is one of the problems
before us he said If Coal county does
not elect'a portion of the Republican
county ticket in November it will be a
big surprise to a great number of peo-
ple Really we ought to elect the
entire ticket The people are going to
have another say in November and we
are candidly of the opinion that they
already have their minds made up for
some changes Missouri is a good ex-
ample for Coal county and all Okla-
homa to follow ' It will pay them
They know it now— watch ’em do it
The question of holding another
meeting some time in the near future
was taken up and discussed at some
length It was finally decided ’to hold
the meeting within three weeks and
the corresponding secretary was in-
structed to arrange a date within that
time that we could secure a speaker or
speakers among the state candidates
To this meeting all Republicans of the
county will beinyited and all county
and township candidates will be urged
to be present
