his gun and went out to square
accounts with the dog It is a

10000 Quail Captured
- The biggest capture of quail
made in Oklahoma this season
was made by game warden Wa-
trous Saturday night off a Frisco
train passing through Enid The
game warden has been making it
a plftclice to search every train
that goes through here and he
has mpde numerous large captures
of late but the one of Saturday
night was far in excess of any
taken heretofore The birds were
packed in seventeen barrels and
two trunks On top of each bar-
rel of qUail a few tame turkeys
and chickens were placed to mis-
lead on inspection as to the con-
tents These turkeys and chick-
ens numbered one hundred and
twenty-five The barrels con-
tained approximately roooo quail
They bad been loaded by a Mr
Rupert at Okeene’ and were being
shipped to Coin Chicago
The two trunks had been checked
as baggage and It is not known
who shipped them One of the
trunks contained seventy-five
prairie chickens and the other
was packed with quail Turkeys
tame chickens prairie chickens
and quail were all confiscated by
the game warden on account of
the manner in which they were
being shipped Mr Watrous has
received many congratulations on
the big capture Several metro-
politan papers wired him for an
account of it This big haul is
the climax of a series of captures
on the part of Oklahoma’s game
warden which shows him to be
alert and efficient in his office —

Told the Truth
A Missouri editor announced
that for one issue he would tell
the truth and here are a few
items from that issue:
John Bonin the laziest man in
town made a trip to Bellvlew
yesterday ’ —
John Doyle our grocery man
is doing a poor business His
store isdusty dirty and noxious-
ly odoriferous How can he ex-
pect to be much?
Rev Snyx preached Sunday
night on "Charity” The sermon
was punk If the Reverend gen-
tleman would live up a little clos-
er to what he preaches he’d have
bigger congregations
Dave Sodkey died last Sunday
at his home in this place The
Dr gave it out as heart failure
The fact is he was drunk and
whiskey is what killed him His
home is a rented shack on Rowdy
street
Married: — Miss Sylvia Rhodes
and John Canton Saturday even-
ing at the Baptist parsonage
The bride is a very ordinary town
girl who doesn’t know any more
about cooking than a rabbit and
never helped her mother three
days in her life She is not a
beauty by any means and she
ha3 a gait like a fat duck The
groom is well known here as an
up-to-date loafer He has been
living off the old folks all his
life and doesn’t amount to shucks
They will have a hard time while
they live together and the News
has no congratulations to offer as
we don’t believe any good can
come from such a union
The issue in which the Missou-
ri editor told the truth was the
last made Now in the spring-
time when the dew like diamonds
sparkles on the grass where
sweet-throated birds make melo-
dy all day subscribers to his pa-
per while it was published drive
out in the couulry a short dis-
tance to catch a glimpse of a
black skin which haog3 suspend-
ed from a barbed-wire fence
This skin is the remains of the
once nvuly form of the Missouri
editor wu "told the truth for
once" — Alva' Review
