Arrested For Speeding
Lonnie Kerr and Luey Simmons of
Bridgeport weae arrested last Sunday
ngnc by Tom Riley for breaking the
t peed limit and for being drunk and
usorderly Both of the boys plead
guilty and paid fines of $1500 ana cost
each This was the first offense and
the boys were let off easy as the ex-
isting city ordinance provides for a
fine of $2500 for breaking the speed
limit or otherwise according to the
circumstances which surround the
case

The following officers were elected
for the coming year at the meeting
of the MWA last Wednesday night

Thieves visited the hen house of
John Barnett and carried away about
three' dozen cnickena last Thursday
night Mr Barnett had sold the chick-

School-last Thursday night was well
attended and after all expenses were

The dedication of the new sus-
pension bridge over the South
Canadian river between Bridge-
port and Geary will be held on
Friday December 16
Governor JBA Robertson of
Oklahoma governor Neffof Tex-
as governor McRae of Arkansas
and former Postal Highway pres-
idents E F Cornels of Sayre
and Dr J J Williams of
Weatherford and the present
president Hon J A Whitehurst
of Oklahoma City are expected
to be present
The completion of this im-
merse suspension bridge removes
the last obstacle pn the Postal
Highway between El Paso Tex
and Memphis Tennessee
- The Postal Highway traverses
the stat s of Texas New Mexi-
co Oklahoma and Arkansas and
is de-tined to be one of the great-
est h'ghways in the en ire south-
west There is a movement on foot at
E resent to extend this road from
ittle Rock to Washingt n City
and from El Paso to Los Angeles
' Another contemplated exten-
sion is through Greenfield Wa-
tonga Woodward and on to Colo-
rado The Postal Highway was the
first road association ever organ-
ized in the southwest It was
organized under- the name of
“The Wes ern Oklahoma Good
Roads Association” and was af-
terwards changed to the Federal
Highway:-- r
x All neighboring towns are
urged to send delegations to help
celebrate and dedicate the great-
est bridge in the southwest and
enjoy the hospitality of the
Bridge Association a- d the offic-
eic of ihe Postal Highway in
partakir g of a sumptuous barbe-
cue of Uef and pork that will be
provided on that occasion
Take a day off and help cele-
brate the occasion
