Candidates for U S Sena-
Tt is now up to the citizens of the above towns to build
an electric line from this city
The proposed project would prove a paying investment
for the stock holders and there is wealth sufficient if it
can be interested in Grove Afton and Miami to build this
line
It is a foregone conclusion that we will all be dead and
buried ere the Frisco extends its branch to Afton or anv
other point from this city and as this is a 'route all three
towns need bably we are anxious to see the line construct-
ed The scheme is a plausible one and as the road would
be surrounded by rich and fertile farming lands on all
sides it would prove to be one of the best paying invest-
ments in Oklahoma - ' -
The Frisco will never extend tne branch to Afton on
account of Grand river having to be
bridged
Grove has
a good three span bridge that would be the hot stuff for an
electric line crossing and beyond a doubt arrangements
can be made for its use
Citizens of Grove Echo Needmore Cleora Afton

Will Elect ’Em All Says Gid
Hon Gideon Morgan was over from Bartlesville Tues-
day and in conversation with a Clipper representative
speaking particularly of Senator Gore and Congressman
Jim Davenport he said : “Tell them that Mayes County
is my county and as for this talk of the Republicans beat-
ing any of our representatives in congress this time they
just can’t do it The boys have covered themselves with
glory and they will all be elected from Gore down” —

The Weather Situation
Local rains continued here up to Saturday but the
showers have been lighter and less frequent for over a
week and the indications are now not so good for a cessa-
tion of hostilities Crops are in better condition than a
week ago and the situation is nearly satisfactory Farmers
are making best progress possible under the circumstances
and it is believed that the weather has cleared the rain
ceased and the corn will be put in good condition Wheat
is ready for the reapers and there are but few fields where
it is impossible to operate the machine
