Dug Up Iron Box Containing Check
Stolen From Reid’e Safe in i
Delaware Over Two
Year Ago '
‘ Two years ago last fall the safe In
the store of C C Reid at Delaware
was blown open and the contents
amounting to about $9000 In checks
and money was taken away The mon-
ey amounted to half the amount
A few days ago workmen engaged
upon the right-of-way between Cali-
fornia creek and Delaware on the
Iron Mountain Railway struck an
iron box In the ground and on digging
it up found that it contained some
checks in a splencd state of preserv-
ation They proved to be the stolen
checks from the Reid safe and the box
was of the kind found in safes used to
keep loose change and checks in
The robbers had decided to bury the
box and uSe the cash probably ex-
pecting to return at a later date and

Todd Case Dismissed
The effort to stick Editor Todd of
the Sapulpa Herald on a libel charge
did not succeed and the case against
him was dismissed by the court Todd
has been an unrelenting enemy of the
bootlegger and 1 gambler in Sapulpa
and in spite of the fight made on
him appears to be lmprovin his pa-
per and gaining both circulation and
advertising patronage The recent vic-
tory of the reform ticket In the Sapul-
pa city election was the result to a
large degree Todd’s publiqjty and
the aid of the Herald has been to
the unification of the forces of decency
Into a real working body
It is geting so that a newspaper
that does not stand for civic and nat-
ional righteousness from principle is
being forced to as a matter of policy
and it is a cheering sign when so hard
a fighter as Todd wins out like he
appears to be doing in Sapulpa —

Good Roads vs Interurbans
"We may talk all we like about get-
ting an Interurban railroad” said a
Nowata west side farmer this week
"and tell about what great benefit it
would be this east and west road but
let me tell you — good highways In this
county would be of far greater value
to the county and benefit more people
than any half dozen railroads steam
or electric that will ever be put in
here And neither steam nor electric
railways will benefit the farmer not
the towns very much until we get Im-
proved country roads ’’
It might be easier to respect Mexi-
co's integrity If she wiild only show
Governor Capper taking an
active part in the servjces
He will also give an interest-
ing talk on Mooseheart Fol-
lowing the initiation the
members of the lodge will
pile into automobiles or on
the backs of elephants and
ride to the carnival grounds
All those who so desire may
ride to the grounds in the
t
cages with the lions This
will he a big day in Coffey-
viMe and it is the intention
that everybody should have
a gala time
