On s Of The Family
“Are you the editor that takes
in society news?’’ inquired the
caller an undersized man with a
tired and timid appealing look on
his face
“Yes sir” replied the young
man at the desk “I can take
in any kind of news What
have you?”
“Why it’s this way” said
the caller ‘ lowering his voice
My wife gave a small party last
night and I am willing to pay
to have this report of the affair
put in the paper ’ ’
1 “We don’t charge anything
for publishing society news”
observed the young man at the
desk t&kftig the proffered man-
uscript arid looking it over
“That’s all right” was the
reply “You don’t understand
I wrote this myself' and I put
in a line or two that says ‘‘Mr

Which Were Preferred Against
Certain Members of the Local
Republican Committee
There was a called meeting of
he Republican Central Commit-
tee of the 70th' Constitutional
District in Coweta - last Satur-
day but the attendance was de-
cidedly slim
The meeting was called for the
purpose of taking action upon
certain charges which bad-been
preferred against certain mem-
bers of said Committee but on
account of the small attendance
action was deferred until Mon-
day Dec 10 1906 when it is
expected that a full foster of the
white members will be present
and final action taken upon the
charges which are as follows:

Better Go Slow
Oklahoma’s convention to
draft a state constitution bo-
same excited over a resolution
to declare the constitution of the
United States the supremo and
paramount law-- or the new
state and after a flurry of
state’s rights feeling referred
the matter to a committee of
three Some of the Oklahoma
delegates seem to have the idea
that they are setting up a gov-
ernment at least co-ordinate
with that of the United States
and appear to be anxious to re-
vive the theories on which seces-
sion tried to justify itself These
Oklahoma reactionaries ought
to realize that the forty-five
states constitute a nation under
one supreme constitution and
law If Oklahoma takes ' the
view that the constitution of the
United States is not the supreme
and paramount law of the land
let the convention say so plainly
and the president and congress
together with a great majority
of the people of the United
States will see that the territory
of Oklahoma has time to con-
sider the essential nature of the
national government and con-
stitution— Globe Democrat t

We further petition and pray
for the removal of J J Hughes

because he does not represent a

given encouragement to efforts

Coweta Lodge No 150 I O
O Fi is forging rapidly to the

evening there were three candi-

mysteries of the order and all
of the degrees were conferred
upon them
Upon invitation from the lo-

lodge were in attendance as
were also -three brothers from
thp Oklahoma jurisdiction and
the meeting in addition to turn-

as full fledged Odd Fellows in
the highest’ style of the craft
now know to Christian Civiliza-

instruction to those members
who had growu “rusty” in the
work and was withal a most
profitable occasion for Odd Fel-
lowship here
After the business ' of the
lodge had been concluded with
so much satisfaction refresh-
ments were served and many
interesting reminiscences of in-
dividual members were recalled
over the palatable viands which
had been provided
Local Odd Fellows are loud
and presistent in their praise of
the work of the visitors and the
occasion will long be remember-
ed as a bright epoch jn the his-
tory of Odd Fellowship here
