Shall The Corpor-
t ation Commission
Be Abolished
Or Made To Function In the In
terests Of the People As
i Intended
(Editorial)
? (Continued from last week)
' Folks let’s get down to plain
facts First we are ail agreed
that something Is wrong We
were told by representatives of
the large oil corporations that
this proration was the only way
out It started in a small and
mild form during the Seminole
boom little by little the big In-
terests began to wedge their way
In Those citizens who didn’t un-
derstand what it was all about
said “well It is too deep for us
1 but we have a Corporation Com-
mission that will protect ' us we ‘
know that they will see the side
of the Common People’s interest
and fight for our rights”
You bet folks that is exactly
what thousands and thousands of
our citizens said Of course we
know that the people were think-
ing of the principles laid down
when the Corporation Commis-
sion was established for the pro-
tection of the people by the great
philosopher of Constitutional
‘ - Government Hon Wm H Mur-
ray and which principles were
promulgated by that great com-
moner Hon Jack Love The
People placed their cause in the
hands of their only protector The
- Corporation Commission who
they thought would protect them
against the selfish and cunning
plans of big powerful corpora-
tions They trusted them — they
remembered during the campaign
of 1926 when our Chairman- C
- C - Childers of the Corporation
Commission was seeking the of-
flee of Comlssloner pledged- his
word and honor that he would
fight this same damnable prora-
tion program of the Standard and
Dutch Shell Corporations and the
people gave him their vote of
confidence — but now when the
time has come for Chairman
Childers to stand the acid test
" where Is Mr Childers? This man
!who sits at the head of the great-
est and most powerful body out-
side of the Supreme Court of Ok-
’ lahoma Do we find him out in
the front as a general leading the
fight for the Interests of the
common people Has he made
one statement during his entire
term as Corporat’or Commis-
sioner that the people could know
that they have one hope of his
sincerity in fighting for the peo-
ple’s rights On the other hand
do we find Chairman Childres
In private conference behind clos-
ed doors with representatives of
big Interests and Foreign Oil Cor-i
porations? We find him openly
defending big Interests He is do-
ing this at the expense of the tax
payers at the expense of those
who are giving him his very live-
lihood — yes Mr Childers the peo-j
pie have found you wanting yes
Mrhilders th0(£lght(is on the
people will not stand foij a "Ju-
das Iscoriot” setting at the head
of the only Court of protection
they have — the people are awake j
This is not a political year andj
it is not a political fight it is a
fight of the common peonle We
have offered our services and
time in this fight in the ranks
as a private in the hour of trou-
ble and depression' that justice
shall be done We call upon all
God fearing citizens of Oklaho-
ma to join us
The hour has arrived for ac-
tion we must put an end to this
everlasting and damnable prac-
tice of our Corporation Commis-
sion serving special Interests and
turn it back to the people Eith-
er this shall be done or the Com-
mission will be abolished and the
powers returned to the courts of
our State into whose hands the
people have confidence We urge
you Mr Citizen Mr Voter you
Civic Leader you Preacher of the
Gospel good Women of Okla-
homa you Laboring Man and you
Mr Farmer to call on your State
Senator or your Representative
in the Legislature Do this at
once before the Legislature meets
