We have just recently closed a
jmging school here at this place
The school was taught by Prof

to teach We consider it a suc-
cess and a great benefit to the
community
- Cotton picking is beginning to
be a thing of great importance in
this community
Gentleman Lewis and Daven-
port have purchased a sorghum
mill and have or will very soon
put it into operation
The boys called from our com-
munity were Tracy Dumi Allen
Barnett John Jones and Johnn'e

We gave the boys up wbh re-
factance but with this consolation
that "Unrle Sammy” will not
find a better bunch of boys any-
where although he s£ arches the
Nation
Before the boys left it was
thought that it would be nice to
give them a parting supper and

state-wide meeting of members of county councils of defence at
the state capital
Every citizen who can possibly do so should hear Secretary

back to those who remain at home
Beating the Submarine
"Naval Inventions" is the name of a pamphlet just published
by the navy department that deals with ths problems of’the sub-
marines The circular Is designed to give those of inventive abil-
ity some idea of just what the submarine -problem really is The
Oklahoma State Council of Denfence State House Oklahoma City
has a limited supply of the pamphlets for distrudtion in this state
They will be sent free of charga while they last
The names of the lads who go from Woodward county will be
preserved in bronze A permanent record of their deeds in the
world war of 1917 will be keep for the future generations
"WAR SPECIAL ALVA TO BERLIN" read the banner car-
ried on the car that took thirty woods county men to Camp Travis
"The Oklahoma Brigade"
"The Oklahoma Brigade" is the name of the organization in the
aelected army that belongs exclusively to the boys from Oklahoma
The war department has announced that boys from each county
Will be keep in the same company in the new army just as far as
possible -
Governor williams is sending out a special appeal to all citizens
to provide their own soldier lads with all comforts possible
County councils have been asked to subscribe for all newspapers in
their county sending them to the company to which local boys be-

Appeal to Politicians v
Forget partisan politics we are at war The entire energies
of patriotic citizens are needed in its prosecution Jf you have
an opportunity to make speeches make them Make them by all
means But confine your remarks to something of vastly more im-
portance than partisan politics Help take the message of the
war to citizens of Oklahoma Aid your state to do its full share
in winning this war Above all things now be a patriot”
This is the appeal of the Oklahoma State Council of Defence to
those in Oklahoma who contemplate running fox office It is al-
ready being observed by practically all of them The task of
awakening citizens of Oklahoma to a realization of the real signi-
ficance of this war and of aiding them perfecting the war organi-
zation of the state is of more importance now than is the question
of who will be next years’s office hollers
Root Flays Agitators
A nation which declares war and goes on discussing whether it
ought to have declared war or not is impotent paralyzed imbecile
and earns the contempt of mankind the certainly of humiliating
defeat and subjection to foreign control
Before the decision of a proposal to make war men may range
themselves upon one side or the other of the question but after
the division in favor of war the countryha3 ranged itself and
the only issue left for the individual citizen is whether he is for or
against his country
From that time on arguments against war in which the country
is engaged are enemy arguments
They encourage the enemy They tend to introduce delay and
irresolution into our own councils -
The men who are speaking and writing and printing arguments
against the war now and against everything which is being done
to carry on the war are rendering more effective service' to Ger
many than they ever could render in the field with arms in their
hands" -Elihu Root V

J S Damron Comanche gave
the following statement in June
1908 "My kidneys had been
causing me trouble for years and
the complaint started when I
was a young boy I had Injured
my back doing some heavy lift-
ing I was laid up for a long
time with my back but it only
began hurting me severely a-
bout a year ago I had a sore
feeling across my back and it
felt as if something heavy were
pulling down on me over the
small of my back and through
my hips Sharp twinges caught
me also Nothing ever helped
me so quickly as Doan’s Kidney
Pills which I got at Weakley &
Co’s Drug Store They cured
me"
Over eight years later or on
December 22 1916 Mr Damron
added: "My former -endorse
